Great service. Very friendly and didn't feel rushed. Would have liked more/larger savory items on the plate. The dry ice made the tea eventful.

Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. My friend is coeliac and needs to follow a strict gluten-free diet, so one of the lady staff went all the way to help by checking and ensuring that all ingredients were suitable for my friend's consumption. Another lady staff also helped us by changing a seat which was shaky. My friend and I were happy with the overall food standard, especially the scones. However, we thought lots of improvement (in terms of taste) would be needed for the sweets (we were rather disappointed with the top tier of our afternoon tea), chocolates (the chocolate arrow and biscuit in the wooden box), and perhaps the bread items (the lower tier, the fillings were really great - fresh salmon, nice sauces, fantastic egg mayonnaise, but the breads carrying them were rather dry). Nevertheless the tea was fine and we will love to try other things on the menu when there is a chance in near future.

We had the science of love afternoon tea - food was great but we would prefer a better balance between savoury and sweets. Staff was nice and we felt welcome. Seats were just a little uncomfortable but in our overall experience was really good. Would definitely recommend.

The setting is lovely, well laid out and trendy decor making you feel at ease. They were aware of dietary issues and came to discuss this beforehand. Staff were obviously busy on the day we went which meant that our science afternoon tea for 7 had multiple items missing from each tray. It was difficult getting the staffs attention to rectify this and they did not have time to stay and check all the plates to ensure what was on them was the full menu. It took two or three attempts to get all the items on the menu to our table. Of the food that was brought, it was delicious and beautifully presented. What spoilt it was the 'optional' service charge at the end being automatically added to the bill. I discussed this with the waitress and explained I was happy to leave a tip but not of the amount added by the restaurant ( especially considering our experience). The waitress was very understanding of this but explained she would have to call someone more senior and it would be a lot of hassle to remove this service charge. As we were there as part of a family celebration I let it go. We had chosen this venue as one of our party had done the same science afternoon tea the year before, unfortunately she said it was nowhere near as good as her last experience.

I came here as a birthday treat with a friend for the Science Afternoon Tea. The atmosphere was nice and cosy, it was fairly quiet so the staff were very attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the white chocolate scones. Probably one of the best places I've been for afternoon tea and it was very reasonably priced. I will definitely be visiting again.

Really fun afternoon tea. Everything was delicious.
Full afternoon tea might be better served at the proper tables as we found the lounge seats to be a little awkward.
    Can't wait to go again!

In 2014, my daughter and I had Afternoon tea at the Ampersand and we remembered this as a very positive experience so we decided to come back again in 2017.
On my booking form, I mentioned my daughter was pregnant. When we arrived, staff was already informed about this and they proposed a delicious alternatieve for her. They were very attentive and accomodating.
Both our different menus were delicious and very generous. Staff offered us extra sandwiches, scones, tea, and sweets as we were enjoying our menu.
We stayed there from 4.30 until 7pm and staff didn't make us feel like we overstayed our welcome at all.
    Highly recommended!!!
