With an AA Rosette to its name, Dovecote Restaurant is nestled into the Derbyshire countryside, in a striking building that dates back to 1002. Sublime English and continental cuisine is served, as well as stunning champagne breakfasts.

Gressingham duckbreast is served alongside honey roasted carrots and bok choi, with radishes and an inventive duck leg pastille. Alternatively, the Morley Hayes Hotel restaurant offers a Wookey Hole cheddar and onion tart, with tantalising chicory and pear salad and a hazelnut dressing.

Indulgent desserts at Dovecote in Derby include an innovative rhubarb jelly with buttermilk panacotta and rhubarb sorbet, topped with a ginger parkin crumb. Enjoy impressive views over the golf course while indulging in a champagne breakfast, with a classic full English or sweet pancakes.

I booked the Champagne Breakfast for my mother to celebrate her 90th birthday. This was just the start of several birthday surprises for her. Although I know this venue I had never been to the Dovecote Restaurant before. The menu is very good plenty of choices including vegetarian.
I honestly cannot think of anything negative to say, food quality excellent, nicely presented and imaginative. Champagne excellent. The surroundings are really good making for a fantastic experience. The staff were all brilliant very attentive and presented my mother with a card and a balloon. Very nice touch. I can highly recommend the Champagne Breakfast, thank you.

Our champagne breakfast experienced at the Dovecote Restaurant yesterday was wonderful, and would definitely recommend it to my friends. If we could just be a little critical...... we were enjoying out toast etc, when our starter was brought out from the kitchen and left on the table, it would be nice if the waitress waits until finished, takes the dirty plates away and then brings the starter out, I asked her to return them to the kitchen to keep warm until we had finished, we felt as though we were being rushed.........apart from that, it was delicious.

nobody approached us about taking our coats from us! nobody came to ask if food was ok. got carrots in stead of extra side dish of chips. we were not asked to taste the wine first! for this class of restaurant there should be a wine waiter.

Four of us had an excellent meal to celebrate my 65th birthday. The restaurant is beautifully appointed, and the staff were lovely, pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. We have being going to the Dovecote restaurant for special occasions pretty much since it originally opened, and can honestly say we have never been disappointed. It's not easy to achieve a high standard at a restaurant , but to have kept it up for so many years without any lapses is amazing. Thanks everyone for a lovely evening, and thank you Andrew for starting the whole thing up in the first place!

An excellent location giving the impression of quality. I cannot fault the food but found difficulty with the limited menu, however the food chosen was cooked to an excellent level. The service was sadly lacking from the the start only with the exception of 1 older lady who was lovely. I consider waiting 35 mins for predinner drinks a little excessive although it could be forgiven if on the second order the drinks were delivered correctly. Sadly this was not the case but rectified on request. As a Retired M.D.I understand profit . Maximum profit at the expense of service and this I believe is never a good business plan. However excellent service when I requested the bill it arrived in under 3 mins.
A special occasion somewhat marred. What a shame !

Excellent service as usual. Booked online in seconds. On arrival seating quickly. There was 8 adults who enjoyed all the food chosen especially the full english breakfast. Ar £25.95 for a champagne breakkfast I hope they don't price themselves out of customers..

I been several times to the Restaurant, on this occasion although the food was ok, some of the food was overly complicated. We had a cheese board and instead of crackers we got hard seeded biscuits, why? Why complicate a cheese board! The restaurant has seemed to have lost some of its sparkle. Still nice, but not as prestigious as it once was. May look at other a la carte restaurants in the future before eating here.
