Lovely food and very friendly service.

With its roots as an enchanting 17th-century farm cottage near Bristol, the pastoral oaken furnishings and dedication to traditional British pub food in The Ashton remain. Encircled by the stunning countryside, but still close to the city, the food can be enjoyed from by the log-fire or the peaceful beer garden.

Lovely decor and atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was good, only tiny complaint is that the drinks ordered took a while- but was quickly sorted, and food took a while too. Other than that we had a very nice Boxing Day meal.

Despite being almost empty, meals took forever to arrive, when they did they were only just warm enough. Coffee was cold and was sent back. Coats that were taken were left thrown over a filing cabinet. Had we not been with friends who had come from Cornwall , we would have complained whilst there.
Will not return.

On arrival, greeted pleasantly and taken to our table. Having problems with my knees, the table we were shown to was difficult for me to slide into. The waitress immediately suggested we move to another, more suitable, table, no problem, no fuss. The staff were friendly and efficient.
The meal itself was absolutely delicious. Our steaks were cooked exactly as we asked for. The beef (from the specials menu), actually melted in the mouth, it was so tender.
A lovely evening, in lovely surroundings.

Beautiful pub but food was average. Portion of southern friend chicken and my friends salmon was quite dry

Lovely setting but overall poor experience. Children screaming running in and out of the restaurant interrupted conversation with our friends. The service was good but Mezze falafel was burnt and deep fried Brie sparse, starters overall poorly presented. Chips with main course were cold and had to be replaced, the food generally was mediocre. Earl Grey tea was presented in new type jugs that looked like cafetière but produced undrinkable tea - what is wrong with traditional teapots? After much table clearing we were asked to leave at 10.45pm because the restaurant was closing and the waitress had finished her shift. We certainly will not be returning to repeat what was a most unpleasant experience with friends we had not seen for a while, it was quite embarrassing.

Always lovely at The ashton. Very cosy and very good menu. Love the veggie and pescatarian options. Although our starter did take a while to Come out and for a sharer the portion of bread was small.

The booking service was very easy to use. The decor was lovely. The food was top rate but the service was very very slow and quite poor for a Thursday night, I think they need more staff.
