Great service with the waitress very friendly and helpful throughout. Meals were excellent. The only minor disappointment was the lack of child friendly toilets (in the gents).

Perched atop the eye-catching Downs, The Devils Dyke boasts spectacular views from its al fresco beer garden down into Brighton and Devil’s Dyke Valley. It offers dependable British pub cuisine with a welcoming hearth-fire and rustic oak furnishings.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Devils Dyke menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Devils Dyke Hotel ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Despite its remote location near Poynings, The Devils Dyke is only 15 minutes’ drive from central Brighton.

Very disappointed with our visit. There was a limited choice of beer on offer during our visit. Very slow service. We had 3 main meals: only mine was good. The duty manager was apologetic and gave us free puddings and coffee but .... we were still disappointed with our visit. The setting is, of course, outstanding! But you go for the food, not just the view.

Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff - especially Sally who looked after us very well. The food was cooked perfectly, hot and delicious and very well presented. We were all very impressed and will be back.

Great welcome and service from Sally who was very attentive but not pushy at all. Lovely lady. Couldn't do enough for us.
Great choice on the menu, well presented, very tasty. Maybe more specials could be available as two people wanted the Spinach and ricotta tart, only one left and it was only 12.45pm.
Warm, well decorated restaurant, very clean and a roaring fire. What more could we want?

Lovely atmosphere, food excellent. We had to wait a little while as they were very busy but well worth the wait. Very good service by a most pleasant waitress. Would recommend the fish cakes.

My meal was cold but the waitress took it away and exchanged it without any fuss, and happily took my meal off the bill. And offered free dessert.
