Perched atop the eye-catching Downs, The Devils Dyke boasts spectacular views from its al fresco beer garden down into Brighton and Devil’s Dyke Valley. It offers dependable British pub cuisine with a welcoming hearth-fire and rustic oak furnishings.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Devils Dyke menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Devils Dyke Hotel ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Despite its remote location near Poynings, The Devils Dyke is only 15 minutes’ drive from central Brighton.

The food was fairly good. There were one or 2 gluten free options & they did my roast with gluten free gravy...would have loved a couple more options though. Only complaints were the parsnips were a bit hard & roast potatoes a little greasy. They were extremely busy so can't blame them really! It was a fairly good with a beautiful view! The other dishes looked really good I think they just get hammered on the roasts on a Sunday!

Very friendly staff. Quick, tasty starters. Waited 45 minutes for the mains. Roast dinners were good but my halloumi salad (main) didn't seem very fresh and wasn't that tasty.

Desserts were quickly served and very yummy. Cappuccinos were too milky.

We waited a while for the food, but the restaurant was very busy being a Sunday lunchtime. When the meals came out it was worth a bit of a wait they were very nice indeed. The waitress was helpful and smiling and all in all a good experience, would definitely go back.

We were early but were able to have our table which was was very busy and the service reflected first choice of starter had sold out so I was a little disappointed however the second one I chose was very tasty,my husband was not too impressed about paying£3.50 for 3 pieces of bread. There was quite a wait for the main course I chose roast it was ok but was not that hot I did not complain as I had waited a while .The table next to us sent back 2 roasts saying that they were cold so clearly this is an issue.Overall the atmosphere was nice quite noisy but on a bank holiday that's what you would expect. The waitress was friendly and polite and everything was clean and neat so it was not an unpleasant experience but with a few changes it would have been great.
