We were very pleasantly surprised and pleased not only by the lovely location, but the superb decor and feel of the place. The food was excellent and really made our visit a special family date out for all. The staff were very welcoming and extremely efficient giving us confidence to return again.

A picturesque countryside pub named after The Wind in the Willows, The Dabbling Duck in the quaint village of Great Massingham represents all that is great about Britain’s pub heritage. A meeting point for the local community, The Dabbling Duck offers a fantastic British menu and real ales favoured by CAMRA Real Ale Campaign.

Winner of the Eastern Daily Press’ Best Pub Food Award in 2012, The Dabbling Duck menu offers immaculately presented rustic British cuisine. Dishes include beer-battered hake with thrice-cooked beef dripping chips, and homemade hogget sausages, served with smoked mash and broad beans. Gourmet burgers include the Cromer crab burger, with rapeseed mayonnaise, and the steak burger, with bacon jam and cheddar cheese.

The quirky dining room at The Dabbling Duck comes complete with walls full of library books, stripped floorboards and sash windows that create a cosy ambience. Reclaimed dining tables and mis-matched chairs complete the space.

A cool and casual countryside pub, The Dabbling Duck in King’s Lynn sits 24 minutes’ drive from Ledbury train station.

Four of us had lunch en route to two of West Norfolk's best churches : at East Lexham and Houghton on the Hill and the quality of our lunch equalled that of the aforementioned churches . My sea trout was spot on and my wife's falaefal burger also excellent as were the cod and chips and the steak enjoyed by our companions .
The Adams and the Wherry went down a treat and the service and ambience could not be faulted . I had a look at the rooms and prices when I got home and I think we'll probably spend a weekend at The Dabbling Duck next spring .

We dined here on 29.10.16 around 6.30pm. From the outside it was quaint and unassuming. When you actually went in it was completely the opposite, still quaint but opened up into many rooms with washed wooden tables and a host of comfortable non uniformed chairs. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our table which was well appointed. The menu had a great choice of food and the wine list covered a good selection of popular regions. We placed our order and thoroughly enjoyed each course. Leek and Potato Soup, steak with great chips and the Jaffa cake desert. Yum

Wonderful evening in a lively pub atmosphere on a Friday night. Service was attentive, burgers were as good as other reviewers had promised, and they had read our comments on Bookable and set the table aside for the evening so we could play board games if we wished. Staying at the DD overnight and glad we decided to do both dinner and breakfast here.

Lovely setting, good service. Have eaten here before and the food has been good but we were disappointed by it yesterday. Won't be deterred from going back though.

I have mixed feelings about the food wifes main and desert was to her hopes and expectations mine and my fathers for the mains left some to desire, we both ordered steak one med one rare when served they where mixed up and we only found out once we had eaten a good part of the dish. When paying I spoke the the person taking payment he said sorry but it didn't really feel it was meant, the girl serving was more apologetic and said the kitchen couldn't tell her which was which.
So for the start of our holiday not good eespecially as less than 2 miles from where are staying.

Overall a very good experience. Slight delay at being greeted on arrival. Excellent table for group of 4. All enjoyed meals however 2 had the steak off the specials board. One asked for very well done and steak was still rare. Considering they were specials both steaks were rather stringy. Service very friendly and attentive. Relaxing decor and impressive location.
