A beautiful relaxing venue. We were seated by an open log fire. The service was excellent and the food very good. I would strongly recommend.

Situated in the village which used to be home to Rolls Royce, The Cuckoo, near Peterborough, continues this tradition of old world charm and quality. It boasts a traditional British pub menu, a rustic stone appearance, a welcoming hearth-fire and a pretty al fresco beer garden.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Cuckoo menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Cuckoo ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Though located in Alwalton, Peterborough Train Station is only a 15-minute drive from The Cuckoo.

Not enough variation ink the menu and not enough attention to service. Staff pleasant but not well trained.

Great location - really close to the A1. We stopped for lunch here rather than stop at a motorway service station and it was definitely a good decision - so much more relaxing.

The website information that is linked to Google Maps search criteria needs to be updated, because it said the pub was open from 10am, but when we arrived at 11:45am having booked a table en route, we were told that the pub was closed until 12 noon and although we coudl sit in the put, they couldnt serve us until 12 noon.

Was helpful to be able to book from the car via a smart phone.

Food from the lunch menu was as advertised - it was good but not outstanding

Food was ok - nothing special - Had fish cakes and they were really over cooked

Very friendly and helpful staff. Gave us time to decide on what we would like. Didn't feel pressure to buy more. Enjoy the atmosphere. Overall a lovely end to a busy day.
Food was amazing, cooked well and presented. Shame only had Diet Pepsi, rather than Coca Cola - but that's a personal thing.
    Really enjoyed it here. ??

My table was booked as expected, however my pre-order wasn't completed. I was told there would be a wait on the food however this turned out to be 45 minutes, which when you are on a lunch break was disappointing. We were told to order drinks at the bar, but there was a large queue and only one person serving. I wrote our drinks orders down and these were served at our table in the end, which was appreciated. Several dishes arrived cold, a side order was missed and a starter arrived once everyone had finished (although the staff kindly removed this from the bill). The food is good at the Cuckoo but there is never enough staff so the service disappoints. The staff members that served us were polite and apologetic but the overall experience did leave a sour taste. There were 8 people in my party so not overly large, with the pre-order intending to mitigate delays for both parties.
