A bustling, eclectic gastropub, The Crown Tavern is filled with quirky design touches and offers popular quiz nights. An extensive menu of pub grub is served, and its front terrace makes it a perfect summer hangout.

The Crown Tavern menu features flavours from across the globe. There are sharing boards with olives, hummus and a range of Mediterranean meats, and other light bites such as Welsh rarebit with poached egg and vine tomatoes. Hearty favourites include beer battered fish and chips, English rack of lamb, and the cajun chicken burger in a toasted brioche bun. There are vegetarian options like the quinoa spring salad with English asparagus, and popular Sunday roasts.

Tempting desserts at The Crown Tavern in Lewisham include chocolate orange mousse with shortbread, and alongside the full wine list a great range of carefully selected Young's ales are served, as well as other international beers and spirits.

With a great ambience and a lot of space for groups, The Crown Tavern in London is a great example of a British gastropub, and sits 11 minutes' walk from Lee Rail Station.

    Still in its first year the new restaurant is settling down quite well but has a number of areas for improvement:
    Service was very slow - we had to order a bottle of wine three times;
    larder management - running out of olives so no grazing boards! That's not right.
    No bread was offered despite being requested and with two young children it was a long time to wait before a) our order was taken and b) food arrived. Worth thinking about a bread and oil/bread and olives appetizer at all times.
    It would be helpful to have a separate children's menu - many places have a quiz or colouring game on the reverse and a pot of crayons.
    Fish of the day and the chicken were excellent, our ten-year-old loved the garlic mayo and pesto, child's burger was perfect size.
    Atmosphere is good and Mark is a welcoming host. We will be back.

    The waiter we had was very good and helpful but for some reason we had to wait over an hour and a half for our main course which is unacceptable especially as the restaurant wasn't busy.

    Second visit, lovely Sunday roast with family, special mention to the dessert! Beef was a little over cooked for my personal taste but was still a delicious meal, gravy veg and potatoes all perfect. We will be definitely be back. My only complaint is my teenage children who don't like a roast don't like it here as nothing suitable on the menu for then, would be happy if there was an alternative offered I.e nice burger. My daughter had the salmon but was quite small and she didn't like the remoulade just something but more simple to cater for less fussy palates would be great I.e teens of the world!
