Enclosed by the wild but pretty New Forest, The Crown – Christchurch enjoys a brilliant spot in the country, while remaining close to the town. The rustic feel, from the oak beams, the cosy log-fire and the pretty beer garden, influences the dependable classic British pub cuisine.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Crown menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Crown ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Crown is 10 minutes’ drive from Christchurch, or just 6 minutes from Hinton Admiral Train Station.

We had already been told by telephone about the lack of heating due to faulty boiler but was warm enough for us. I was a little annoyed that my first and second choice main meals were unavailable , at 7pm, and would have liked this information before the waiting member of staff came to take our order, which meant I then rushed a meal choice, but all four meals were lovely as always. In addition on previous visits, even at a late lunchtime, main meal she have been unavailable.

The Crown is now an excellent place to eat. We take my elderly father there when we go down to visit. Friendly, helpful and patient staff. Great food and a friendly ambience. The food is also suitable for an elderly person - easy to cut and eat. My father loves the mushroom soup and eat an enormous helping of Ham Egg and Chips yesterday. The Chicken and the steak and mushroom pies are wonderful.

All the dishes were tasty, well presented and served with a smile.
However, the restaurant was quite cold but the Manageress kindly put us on another table next to the fire. This made our dining experience so much more pleasurable. The mini puds served with the coffee of your choice were a perfect finish to a good meal.

Went for lunch on a Sunday with my grandsons. I had roast beef dinner and it was good but gravey came already on but it said on the menu it came seperatly in a jug, which I would have prepared. Good fresh vegetables and very nice roast beef. Grandsons had beef burger which were large and they throughly enjoyed. Didn't have a starter and only one dessert which was good. Only complaint was it was quite cold in the restaurant. Will go again.

Nice pub, pleasant staff in general, unexciting food. Strange sweet dressing on everything, cold chips -a few of which were undercooked, no proper allergen advice on the menus, steak was dry.
