Boasting views over the River Lee and the beautiful surrounding gardens in Hertfordshire, The Crown – Broxbourne delivers vintage British pub cuisine in a cosy and rustic environment. Formerly a hotel, the warm hospitality remains, since the food can be enjoyed by the welcoming hearth-fire or al fresco garden.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Crown menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Crown ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Crown is just a 6-minute walk from Broxbourne Train Station in Hertfordshire.

Very friendly and polite staff. Good atmosphere. We weren't rushed. We were a party of 6 and 5 of us wanted sea bass, but they only had one available, so that was the only disappointment.

We waited ages to be shown to a table, the waiting staff whilst pleasant all need to smarten up and improve their skills, there was so much off the menu that we couldn't have it was ridiculous and when I chose a special it turned out that was off the menu too. Food when it came was ok but no more than that. I would not go back or recommend to anyone.

Lovely location. Service was really good. Very busy due to the hot weather food service was rather fast. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Unfortunately chaotic. Told on arrival at meals would take up to 1 hour to arrive. We were recommended not to order starters as the main course as that would delay our main courses further. Kitchen appeared unable to cope with the amount of diners. Had to ask for coffees 3 times before they finally arrived. On the plus side, the waitress was very pleasant.

Sunday lunch was of typical Vintage Inn standard but the service was appalling. We were shown to our table on arrival & left. Eventually somebody came to take our order & had we been warned that there was a delay in serving meals we would have been prepared but serving staff were miserable and extremely slow. Three of us had finished our hot deserts before the last two appeared at the table.

I am a fan of this pub however when we arrived we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated even though the restaurant was empty and then to be told that the menu was very limited because a lorry had reversed into their gas mains supply. Therefore any grill food was off the menu, this in fact made it very limited and left it to a bit of a guessing game as to what we could in fact order. That as well it was freezing due to there being no heating. A free hot drink wouldn't have gone a miss.
