They had run out of Sunday Roast by 1.30. Said we should have reserved it on line! However they did offer instead duck with all the roast veg. Delicious pudding of apple and caramel with blackberry ice cream. Need to sit inside now weather not warm so need to book ahead.

This was really fine dining with first class service. We had a cocktail at the bar while awaiting our starters which were both excellent as was the next two courses, tasty and excellent presentation. The staff were very knowledgeable re the wines and the dishes, although I think £24 for a bottle is a tad expensive. If it had been daylight then the view also would have been marvellous.

This was my third visit to The Cove. I often come here when I'm staying locally. I love the location, the staff are always very friendly and usually I love the food. I have to say I was a little disappointed this time. I was with my family and they all enjoyed their meal but I wasn't keen on mine. I had the butternut squash and spinach cannelloni. It was beautifully presented but was paired with a beetroot sauce and caramelized onions both of which were very sweet which for me was just too sweet against the already naturally sweet butternut. The squash was very mushy in the mouth and not unlike baby food. This is just my opinion though. I was disappointed in the lack of vegetarian options too and although I eat fish I don't eat seafood so it's tricky when fish dishes are often paired with seafood. Finally, the wait for our food was intolerable. I understand there was an issue in the kitchen that was being fixed but bearing in mind we were early it was probably getting on for an hour and a half before we sat down to eat, partly due to the fact we weren't given menus for almost 40 minutes. I would visit again and I would recommend The Cove but I might not rush to go there immediately in the future.

LOVELY RELAXING ATMOSPHERE WHICH WAS NICE EVEN THOUGH OUR DINNER WAS A BUSINESS MEETING.
WE ATE IN THE CONSERVATORY WHICH WAS SPACIOUS WITH EXCELLENT VIEWS OVERLOOKING THE BEACH.

We're hooked on the place and it has long been a restaurant of choice for special occasions. Great location, great food, great service, great comfort. But just one teeny weeny little niggle. I respectfully suggest that you do away with your policy of asking if we'd like some olives at the start (and for which we subsequently learn, by looking at the menu, that you actually charge £4.00). It is customary in restaurants of your level, quality and price for this sort of thing to be given/offered complimentarily ahead of the meal. It's a small but very noticeable, jarring departure from an otherwise perfect experience.
