A uniquely designed gastro pub, The Corner House offers a calm retreat from the city’s busy shopping district. The sleek bar area has large windows overlooking the street and serves a selection of wines, while the dining rooms are an eclectic mix of rustic and industrial design, and serve a vast menu of modern British recipes with some Mediterranean influences.

With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Corner House restaurant menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest seasonal ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include Mediterranean mezze, seared chicken breast with sweet potato rosti & buttered British beans, and spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.

The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Corner House bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and eclectic sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.

Set within the bustling city centre, The Corner House in Cardiff is a 5-minute walk from Cardiff Central Station.

Four of us went for a girl's lunch and had a great time. It was Wine Club Wednesday so we enjoyed two bottles of a delicious sparkling rosé. We chose the 2 course lunch menu and enjoyed the portobello mushrooms as a starter while the Sticky Chicken was a spicy delight. The service was friendly and attentive and I look forward to returning soon.

An excellent meal, high quality food, good wines and excellent service. The black pudding cake, and the salmon with chorizo on a bed of mashed potato were particularly good. The meal was also very good value for noney

We booked this a long time ago to ensure we had a table for lunch on a rugby international day (Wales v Scotland and we won!). Understandably the downstairs pub was packed but upstairs was calm and comfortable, with the added bonus of the buzz from downstairs rising. The waitress, Tanya, was rushed off her little feet but didn't stop smiling and was helpful and polite throughout our time there. We were not rushed and the food was excellent. We shared a platter to start and then had fresh lobster on a brioch roll. The lobster had been cooked to perfection, it was soft, moist and very delicious. The twice cooked chips were also excellent. We followed this with a mini chocolate brownie, unctuous and satisfying and a berry creme brûlée which was also difficult to find fault. Overall, a very positive experience and we shall certainly return.
