The Bistro & Bar at the Royal Clifton Hotel

The Promenade, Southport, PR8 1RB

((((* British

This was by far the best afternoon tea we have had. If you prefer savoury to sweet i.e. less cake and more sandwiches, cheese, etc. then this is the one for you. and the dandelion and burdock jelly shots were something else. All served with a smile.

A majestic setting boasting impressive sea views, The Conservatory Bistro & Bar at Royal Clifton Hotel and Spa provides locally sourced, classic British. Sunday roasts and quintessentially British afternoon teas are extremely popular.

Guests will find an array of sandwiches, salads and pies on the Conservatory Bistro & Bar menu, alongside pub favourites such as ale-battered cod with chips and mush peas. A regional of light bites including Cumbrian meatballs and Southport potted shrimps are also on offer.

Comforting puddings such as crumble of the day and Eton mess are perfect indulgent desserts. For afternoon tea, guests will find a variety of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, a selection of cakes and experimental quirks including dandelion and burdock jelly shots.

The Conservatory Bistro & Bar in Southport is conveniently located moments away from the coast and the Kings Gardens, and a 9-minute walk from Southport Train Station.

I was very impressed with the quality of the food! I had three courses. Calamari, sirloin steak and then chocolate pot with homemade shortbread. The restaurant was busy but relaxed and the staff very friendly. I would certainly go again

Nice Restaurant setting within the hotel - could have done with a little more atmosphere.
Food and service were both very good.
