A great atmosphere and a safe choice for a family visit. The food was sensational. A country pub vibe in the city! Music a little loud but staff turned it down when I requested it. All in all a wonderful evening. Thank you!

Embracing the boat racing tradition of the Thames, The Coat and Badge in Putney is an inviting oasis of good British spirit and irresistible eats. With a gorgeous garden for al fresco dining and summer barbecues, The Coat and Badge boasts an impressive wine list and huge plates loaded with suitably hearty pub fare.

With an eclectic mix of traditional and modern touches, the chic interior invokes the boating history of Putney Bridge and regularly plays host to cool live jazz. Satisfying lunches include wild boar and apple sausages and caramelised shallots, or for the really hungry, 28-day aged rib-eye steak, with onion rings, cherry tomatoes, chips and béarnaise sauce.

Delicious desserts at The Coat and Badge, London include white chocolate cheesecake or a classic British Eton Mess. When it’s sunny outside, The Coat and Badge garden is the place to enjoy their wide selection of fine champagne and wines chosen by Master of Wine John Clevely.

Close to the High Street and Putney Bridge, start of the Oxford and Cambridge boat race, The Coat and Badge restaurant is easy to find. Putney Train Station is just a 6-minute walk away.

Sunday lunch was amazing, one of the best I've had in London for a long time. Service at the bar was friendly but slow, service outside was poor.

Excellent boozer. Dining area is cosy and classy in a relaxed way, bar area perfect for a couple of afternoon pints.

went on a hot summer day and stood in the gorgeous garden with friends (and the rest of Putney so it seemed), ordered bbq burgers, food came over promptly and was delicious, washed down with beers and jugs of pimms, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves all afternoon as we always do, staff were busy but friendly and courteous

Went with my wife on Sunday to have a sunny afternoon drink, when we got there we were lucky to get a table this was because it was a sunny day that is not why i am writing this commemt. When we sat down i went in to get me and my wife a drink, after about 1/2 hour we wanted to have a meal so we looked at the menu and orded.I then went back outside and sat down after a couple of seconds one of the bar staff came over and ask us for our seat i ask why, she said that the chair we for inside and that the pub did not allow them to be out side.My wife then said that we did not bring them outside, reply that all there out side chair had been stolen and they had to order some new ones.I told her we had ordered food and she said that the chairs still had to go back inside.Having given up our seat i managed to find one for my wife but i had to stand. When our food came out i was still standing it was only that 2 gents saw what had happen and lets us swap tables. If it was not for those to people i would have had to eat my dinner standing.

I had lunch on a Tuesday and it was a really nice and relaxed atmosphere. The outdoor patio is brilliant in the spring/summer/autumn and the place is perfectly placed just off Putney High Street.
