Boasting vintage styling of oak beams and stone, The China House in Plymouth offers traditional British pub cuisine in a spacious and open environment. From the cosy log-fire inside, or the al fresco beer garden outside, fantastic views over the Sutton Harbour Marina can be enjoyed.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The China House menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The China House ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The China House is just a 20-minute walk, or a 4-minute drive, from central Plymouth.

We arrived on Sunday @6pm,there were no roasts left!we had fish n chips!my husbands was lovely, mine looked good but the fish was not edible it was rock hard in the middle! I left it and got my meal refunded!staff were very nice but originally we had gone for a roast so I felt let down anyway!this being the second time this has happened!we do love the China house and the Globe near Bath!

Food was horrendous, limited menu as sold out and pizza ovens broken.

The food was lovely! Just lacking abit of organisation with the staff, such as we got told who our waiter would be, who asked us for drinks and we didn't get them so had to ask someone else, then got served by 2 different waiters, after we had our starter we got the menu given back to us even though we'd already ordered our main. So a few things weren't very organised but other than the staffs organisation it was very nice!

Arrived to find the restaurant boiler had broken down and the whole place was very cold. We ate our mediocre meal with coats on - an offer of hot drink would have helped. One meal sent back as not cooked adequately and the fish and chip meals had overcooked chips hidden under the fish. Mentioned all this to the waiter but he was quite indifferent.

Booking was simple, food very good value and well presented, pizza enormous , service very good. Our table was opposite kitchen door so not a pretty view, but otherwise pleasant evening.

Welcome good. At 7.00pm the Cod and Chips were unavailable. Chips and veg. good. Chicken pie ok. All food served piping hot.. I had your voucher for a complimentary pudding, handed to the waitress. On presentation of my bill I was told that it couldnt be used as we had chosen a sharing pudding, having been told no creme brulee available. Lovely atmophere and decor but not the best dining experience.

We eat here quite often. Excellent atmosphere in a very old and tastefully decorated building - roaring fireplaces, lots of comfortable corners and relatively private dining. Good selection of drinks and a very large menu, full of traditional and modern dishes, well prepared and presented. Service at times a little slow yesterday, but it was sunday and they were unusually short-handed. The staff, whilst obviously extremely busy were nonetheless polite, attentive and good-humoured
