The flagship of the Putney Wharf development on the River Thames, The Boathouse is a contemporary 3-story Young’s pub and restaurant in London. The 2nd floor restaurant offers beautiful views out over the Thames, and runs specially-themed dining nights each night of the week.

Thursday is grill night, offering tasty chargrilled bites, while Friday night is lobster night, a chance to sample a lobster platter or the unrivalled surf and turf, with bavette steak in oyster sauce. Catch of the day comes from fishing boats around the British coastline, and features on The Boathouse restaurant menu alongside Boathouse fish pie and chunky Cumberland ring sausages with colcannon, red wine gravy and onion jam.

An eclectic wine list at The Boathouse in Putney accompanies a stock of award-winning Young’s ales, all of which can be enjoyed in the pub’s huge outdoor riverside drinking area. As well as the grill and lobster nights, there’s quiz nights, ‘Mussel Beach’ challenge nights and ‘Fish ‘N’ Fizz’ Mondays.

The Boathouse’s enviable location on the River Thames is half a mile from the London Rowing Club and a 7-minute walk from Putney Station.

Generally disappointing. Having booked a couple of weeks before hand, we were invited to sit where we liked: no table had been saved for us (the 'system' was down apparently), although there was no shortage of tables as only a few people were in the restaurant but the smaller ones by the window were already taken. There was no encouraging greeting or attempt to make it feel like it was a 'special' night. Some items on starters section were poor value for money, however we did enjoy the mixed meat sharing board. The main meals were good and hot but very ordinary. The crumble topping on the dessert was lovely but the fruit section rather watery and lacked flavour.
We made the boathouse our place of celebration because our son lives locally. It has a superb view of the river but we feel the service and quality/quantity of the food served rather let it down and it did not serve us well as a 'whole' experience.

The Boathouse is a beautiful restaurant in an excellent location. We had Sunday roasts, all of which were delicious. However, and quite sadly, the service just doesn't do the restaurant justice. While the servers are friendly, they're pretty inefficient. It took about 15 minutes for our waitress to take our drinks order, a lot of looking around hopefully and gentle waving when we wanted to order mains, a bit more anxious looking around and less gentle waving when we wanted to order more rounds, dessert was interminable, and I had to ask for the bill 3 times from 3 different staff members in 30 minutes before it was somewhat unceremoniously dumped in front of me... and it was incorrect.

Unfortunately the staff seem to take a pretty silo'ed approach - one waiter to rule a table, and ne'er shall another member of staff intervene... no matter how much you beg for another bottle of wine or the bill.

So, ultimately, while it's a great spot, and I'm a big fan of a leisurely lunch, I left in a bit of a huff because of the service. However, it's easily remedied! If management could just encourage staff to be more proactive, stop loitering behind the bar, actually deliver when a customer asks for something, and for heaven's sake, don't be afraid to help out a table that's not on your roster, it would be excellent.

Awful. Couldn't even get someone to take our food order. Left after an hour when we were finally informed that no orders were being taken as the wait for food was 1 hour.

No very good experience. Waited 45 minutes for food and then my £16.50 (not cheap) was cold. Not offered any condiments l.e mustard etc: the people on next table also waited a long time one man had gravy split on his jacket by waitress. After lunch waited ages before dessert was offered at this point I complained to waitress about service and asked please do not add service charge to bill. Again waited ages for someone to take dessert order and then another five minutes another waitress came over to take order as order again as other waitress had forgotten what I ordered. I did complain and get discount. But all I got from staff that there were new members of staff and I explained that should not affect clients and how does affect kitchen taking so long to deliver food. I also said that if we were told when we arrived that there was a long wait for food then that would have been better than saying nothing. The staff were not very apologetic and just made excuses. Wont be going again. Only good thing about place is view from restaurant. Now off to TripAdvisor

Food OK but service was quite rude pushing the bill on us, turning the lights very bright right after and literally asking us to grab our bottle of wine and glasses ourselves to go to the bar. There. Was no mention we needed to be out by 9:30pm when booking a table for 7:30pm

Me and a friend ordered the Roast Beef. The beef was very tough to cut and quite chewy. Unfortunately we didn't send it back but told the waitress at the end that we were not over impressed with the meal. We asked for some money off the bill but were told this was not possible. Instead we were offered a glass of prosecco which was flat. The manager did not want to assist us any further. Very poor customer relations.
Didn't like the new furnishings. Sofas have been removed from the middle floor, so not as comfy.

Lovely restaurant. Great view of river. Great for fish lovers. Great sea bass on spinach. Excellent. Had white rioja by the glass as an excellent accompaniment. Small range of sweets- ice cream was perfect. Good coffee and an interesting choice of liquors including sloe gin.
