Overlooking the Dee Estuary, The Boat House in <Cheshire sits on a beautiful RSPB reserve. Taking particular pride in the fresh fish and shellfish on offer, it also serves a variety of hearty British cuisine.

The menu at The Boat House contains a huge variety of dishes. Delicate starters like goats’ cheese topped red pepper give way to superb fresh seafood, ranging from mussels to grilled Dover sole. Traditional British dishes like toad in the hole are popular choices, as are the hearty Sunday roast and chargill options. There is also a dedicated vegetarian menu section, and a selection of tangy, colourful desserts.

The Boat House Neston also prides itself on its selection of traditional British ales and beers, which are often altered to provide great variety. There is also a fine wine list, and a selection of exciting themed evenings.

With a warm ambience and stunning surrounding scenery, The Boat House in Parkgate is British coastal dining at its best.

Starter very small for the price and didn't enjoy the main of lamb shank - rich and sickly - couldn't eat it so waste of money - unusual for me not to enjoy my food!! Told them at the time but they did nothing about it! Not good customer service really!

Should have been much better. Cold welcome. Cold food. Over cooked sea bass, Luke warm.

Normally very good. On this occasion the fish (fish and chips) had a very heavy batter although I had asked for a light batter, very little actual fish and plate covered with excessive oil/grease.
My partners meal had a sauce which is normally very good but this time was very oily with a layer of oil on the top of the sauce.
    New back room staff!!!!!!!
The front staff were very good.
Did not complain at the time as we were on a tight schedule.
    A great shame!!!!

I booked a table to celebrate my mums 81st birthday with my cousin and in his wife. As requested we were given a table in the conservatory which my guests loved as they could watch the birds out on the marshes as we ate. Our meals were superb - they all had Sunday roasts and I had the lemon sole - fantastic.
My cousin and his wife were so glad I had taken them there - thanks Boathouse !!

As a group of 5, we have held regular reunion lunches here for the past 10 years or so. We continue to do so because of the maintained high standards of cuisine and friendly service. Of particular note yesterday - we stayed at the table until about 4 o'clock, without anyone giving the impression that we were outstaying our welcome !!
We all like the new menu. Maybe staff could have been more helpful with coats (most places will take them from you before you sit down)

Menu had changed since last visit and meal choices on this occasion didn't live up to expectations. Chips with burger were more like roast potatoes. Other main meal would have benefited from vegetables. It was tasty but lacking in certain areas. On reflection the next day and based on good experience of previous visits, it was a little disappointing
