A charming rural pub with upstairs guesthouse, The Blue Bell Inn sources produce from the best Yorkshire providers to serve up a premium British gastropub menu. There is also al fresco seating for the warmer weather, and open fires for when it gets chilly.
The Blue Bell Inn menu boasts distinctly British flavours – to start, there are cider-steamed mussels, and sharing bites like ham hock and black pudding Scotch egg. Classic choices include beer-battered fish and chips, beef and root vegetable pie, as well as roast rump of lamb with crispy fried liver, fondant potato and red wine sauce. There is also a kids' menu, and a range of sandwiches served during the day.
There are sumptuous desserts served up at The Blue Bell Inn Harrogate, including homemade treacle tart, rum and raisin crème brûlée, and dark chocolate and orange mousse. The wine list is extensive and features regularly changing guest bottles, and there is also a great choice of beers and cask ales.
With a homely ambience and classic British comfort, The Blue Bell Inn is 22 minutes' drive from Harrogate Rail Station.

Excellent pub with lovely decor and friendly staff. Brilliant menu choices with a specials board. My husband had a starter pea risotto followed by shepherds pie and I had goats cheese and beetroot tart followed by seabass fillet with chorizo and chickpeas. This didn't come with any potato, so I also had chips. We then shared sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. All absolutely yummy.

We enjoyed our meal, There were five of us aged from 16 to 84. A couple of us had the sharing starter which was delish! Main courses: 1 Plaice, 1 fish n chips, 2 thai green curries - which were all excellent. One of our party had the rack of lamb which was disappointing as it wasn't a rack and it wasn't pink! For puds we had two eton messes and a sticky toffee pudding, both puds were very nice but there simply was not enough eton mess.
We enjoyed our evening, the staff were nice and attentive. I did mention our disappointment with the lamb, the waitress said she would speak to the chef about it but we never heard the chef's view. The restaurant was a bit short on atmosphere - but to be fair it was early doors on a` Wednesday night!

Good welcome and particularly spacious and comfortable seating. The Bluebell was -as it was Sunday- set up for Sunday lunch orders but two of our party chose from elsewhere on the menu and found the plaice and burger rather tired. To sum up setting, ambiance and service excellent but food quality overpriced compared to other inns.

We have eaten at (and very much enjoyed) The Blue Bell before so we were a little disappointed last night. There was an uncomfortably long wait for our starters and the crab claws were not served with any kind of cracking or teasing out implements. The mains were tasty but there was too much liquid in the fish pie for my taste. The dessert was sublime but unfortunately marred by the, frankly, burnt biscuits. The Blue Bell is a lovely restaurant, beautifully decorated with a great atmosphere. The waiting staff are attentive - just a shame the seafood evening did not live up to expectations.
