A rustic waterside village pub with a decked terrace for al fresco dining, The Black Horse – Milton Keynes serves a menu of simple but wholesome British pub food. With cushioned seats, red walls & windows overlooking the Grand Union Canal, this pub is a country-style retreat in the historic village of Great Lindford.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Black Horse menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Black Horse – Milton Keynes cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

Nice staff but wouldn't go on a Sunday again as not much choice if you don't want roast and lots of things off the menu. Asparagus side was over cooked and no sign of the Parmesan it was supposed to have on it. Disappointed- used to dine here a lot and can't say I will rush back despite the friendly staff and lovely environment

I am familiar with the menu as I have dined at the Cromwell Cottage and Fox and Hounds at Harlestone on many occasions which have always been exemplary. This visit was a big disappointment. I was on a table for 6 so we were stuck in a chilly corner by a drafty window as it seemed that was the only space for us. We were left for around 45 minutes without being offered a drink. We had to go walkabouts to try and get someones attention several times. Finally our starters came which were a bland, cold, tasteless disappointment. The mains were much better and the desert was average. Like I said I know the menu well and they did not do it justice at the Black Horse on this occasion. Normally such a lovely restaurant but a severe disappointment for a Christmas celebration with friends.

We had a late family Sunday lunch - all of us very tired - and we had a lovely quiet table, kind and helpful service, and lovely food. I especially enjoyed the nut roast and the mulled wine - and our grandson (2) adored his chocolate brownie and ice cream! We quite often eat at the Black Horse and have never had a bad experience yet. Our charming waiting staff were Marissa and Martin - well done to both.

The food was lovely but unfortunately I burned my hand when moving a metal pan that my starter was served in. Unfortunately I was not given a warning about the heat, so was shocked to find it so hot. The lady manager was very apologetic but the damage had been done. I would, however, recommend the restaurant as the rest of the service and food was exceptional.
