    Absolutely amazing food.
Before our starters we and another table were given a warm roll from the oven which was a lovely surprise and very yummy!!!
Me and my partner then started off with a bread board and him also having a duck Bon Bon.
The selection of bread was lovely along with the olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette! He also throughly enjoyed his duck!!
For mains we both had the fillet steaks.
I cannot explain how good this was! I had my steak cooked medium rare and it was undoubtedly the best steak I have ever eaten. My partner who has his steak medium can sometimes find his pretty hit and miss with the redness in some restaurants, again was very happy that his steak was cooked to his perfection.

The sauce we both chose (Stilton and port) was a little to sweet for us. (None of the other sauces we liked) Maybe a bit more of a selection would be nice.

By the time we finished we were to full to discover the puddings so shall definatly be returning for yet another steak and pudding!

Service was very attentive and professional.

For a steak I would root for people to come and visit here!!!

    Great job!

We returned to the restaurant after a break, all 5 of us had the Sea Bass, excellent.
For the desert we all ordered Sticky Toffee Pudding, the waiter returned to say only one 1 left, it would have been nice to have been informed of this before we decided what to choose.

Lovely food for adults, no children's menu, we had to think of starters and puddings for our children and then ask them if they could do it, they were happy to. A children's menu would be better.

Booking was @ 2.30pm, when they start Afternoon Tea, but the bread on most of the sandwiches was stale which suggested that the sandwiches had been sat around for ages and not all crusts were cut off. Turkey looked and tasted like processed meat, not fresh turkey. No cucumber with salmon and no cress with egg sandwiches, and the eggs were overcooked and slimy. Not finger size sandwiches - 4 finger width doorstop sandwiches, we cut them in half which is when we realised just how stale the bread was. When we asked why they were so big we were told that previous customers had complained that there were not enough sandwiches! Chef made some fresh sandwiches, having asked what we would like. We asked for cheese sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches and brown bread, expecting finger sandwiches as we had already commented on the size of the previous ones. We were presented with triangle sandwiches (instead of the sandwich being cut into massive quarters they were simply cut diagonally into massive triangles), and the filling was grated cheese with cucumber and pickle together in fresh white bread. Tea bag Tea, not leaves, no choice on what type of Tea you might want. Chunky Tea Cup/Saucer. Cakes were awful, even the floor manager didn't know what the filling was in the banana bread offering (and why would you use the crust off the banana bread in the cake?). Dipping chocolate for strawberries was lumpy. We were offered complimentary Prosecco which was awful, it was served warm and tasted terrible. BUT the worst bit had to be the TWO SPIDERS WEBS on the three tier stand! Only found them once we had moved the cakes off the middle plate. Stomach churning and totally unacceptable. We felt sick. Have pictures as evidence of everything. How someone could lay the food out on a stand that has two spiders webs is beyond belief. There is an expectation with Afternoon Tea, sadly none of those were met at The Bird in Hand. Totally would not recommend at all. Waste of a journey..
