Formerly a cluster of 18th-century farm cottages, The Beagle serves traditional British fare in a historic setting which borders the rural fringes of Sproughton. A crackling log fire, al fresco dining area and paddocked gardens add to The Beagle’s country charm, together with a mishmash of squashy furniture.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Beagle menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Beagle ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

An 11-minute drive from Christchurch Mansion & Wolsey Art Gallery, The Beagle in Ipswich is just an 8-minute drive from the town centre.

Served by Sarah, with some assistance from a male colleague. Efficient and friendly, not too pushy.

Overall good value and close, Paul was great, the waiter wasn't rude but was abrupt and quick, no starter cutlery was provided, the duck starter was expensive for 4 tiny pieces of duck, more expensive restaurants provide more for less.

Service was slow and the food was disapointing. We had the 2 types of roast platters for 2. The meat was overcooked and parsnips and carrots Undercooked. The gravy was of a Mediterranean type with tomato added which was strange to accompany an British roast. A beef gravy would have been better. The Yorkshire was soggy, but potatoes ok.

I had the sharing platter for 2 as a starter. The pates were good, but insufficient bread to accompany so left modt of it. Prawn and lobster cocktail was good, mushrooms were welded to the dish -clearly been cooked some time ago and kept warm.

Excellent except chicken pie had run out. We were dining at 8.30pm, though you would expect a full menu on popular dishes.
Not impressed with the beer. Only three including 2 x Adnams and Doombar. Decided to drink wine which was fine.
Service top class and efficiency excellent.
Would recommend and easy location next to Premier Inn.

Really disappointed. Service was awful. Our waiter ignored us for long periods during our time there. There was no interaction with guests, he came across as rude. We had to go to the bar to pay, even though we had asked for the bill & the waiter walked past us at least 15 times. When we did pay, we saw our waiter at the other end of the bar sorting glasses! He barely made eye contact. We spoke to the manager at the end, who, quite frankly, couldn't care less. It's such a shame as the food was exceptional.

Four of us dined at the Beagle in Sproughton. From start to finish we were well looked after. The staff were efficient, friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent. I have eaten here several times and always enjoy it. Thank you.

We had an amazing meal at the beagle last sunday, the service from Dave was fantastic and the food was to die for. We both had roast beef which was beautifully cooked. Starters were the pate and the garlic mushrooms, again beautifully cooked. No room for dessert which is a shame.first experience for my partner and we will be sure to come back again very soon.
