Formerly a cluster of 18th-century farm cottages, The Beagle serves traditional British fare in a historic setting which borders the rural fringes of Sproughton. A crackling log fire, al fresco dining area and paddocked gardens add to The Beagle’s country charm, together with a mishmash of squashy furniture.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Beagle menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Beagle ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

An 11-minute drive from Christchurch Mansion & Wolsey Art Gallery, The Beagle in Ipswich is just an 8-minute drive from the town centre.

The Beagle is lovely. We have dined here on several occasions and our latest visit, Friday 2nd June, was very relaxing. The bar area is traditional and comfortable and the dining areas are quite individual with a wonderful ambience. The food is very good and anybody selecting a hot drink and a mini pudding for dessert will be very pleased with the size of the "mini" pudding!

The food was good, the service was excellent - our waitress was there when needed and nothing was too much trouble.

The service was excellent, Heather the waitress did a really good job well done her. Bit disappointed in the presentation of the wygyu (or similar) burger which was on the small side for the size of the brioche.

Went for lunch with the family, everyone was happy. I found the prawn and lobster cocktail ok, but the avocado was mushy although it tasted ok. I had ham egg and chips for main, best chips ever and the ham was tasty, although not carved very well, being hacked rather than sliced. I wanted the creme brulee for dessert, but was told that the gas canister for the blowtorch was faulty and had been condemned. Has no one ever made a creme brulee crust using a grill!. I made do with the apple pie which was a trfle al dente.

Disappointed, first visit, special occasion meal. Some of the food was cold, the bubble and squeak with lamb shank was poor it tasted like mash potatoe with a little cabbage mashed in with it. The seating was grubby. No condiments on the table. We had to wait nearly an hour for our meal, very poor service. There was also lots of fruit flies hovering around us, not nice when your trying to eat.

Pleasant pub with good selection of local ales. Staff were friendly, but not intrusive. Service a little slower than perfect but quality of the food was very good. Recommended.

No problem. Sunday roasts. No problem with us asking for extra gravy! Not that it was short, we just like lots of gravy!
