Once used as an advanced listening post during World War 2, The Beachy Head Hotel serves a plethora of British cuisine from a diverse and innovative menu. Boasting unspoiled views over Eastbourne beach, The Beachy Head Hotel in East Sussex enjoys its own wine cellar and outdoor dining area.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Beachy Head Hotel menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Beachy Head Hotel ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

As well as unrivalled views of the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, The Beachy Head Hotel in Eastbourne is just a 5-minute walk from South Downs National Park.

The food, service and ambience were excellent. However, it was annoying that the wine we ordered (the Merlot) was not available, and neither was one of the main dishes (the Lamb Combo).

Also, one of the main reasons for booking last night was to take advantage of the "20% off total bill" offer. However, when I came to pay I was told that the 20% discount applied to food only, and not to the wine (£17.95, for a bottle of Shiraz). When I queried this I was told that the computer was pre-programmed to calculate the discount in that way, and that there was nothing that the staff could do. My query was handled very well and very politely, and the staff were embarrassed by the situation, but were ultimately powerless. I checked the wording of the offer in the email when I got home, and was annoyed to see that I was in fact right. If there is small print somewhere which points out that the discount applies to food only, then the prominent "full bill" offer is misleading. In this case I suspect you will receive many more comments such as these.

The Beachy Head Inn dining experience was very poor - a large proportion of the mains were not available and the staff spent most of their time apologising. As a result we had just one drink and a main course before leaving as soon as possible. This was our first visit, at 7pm on a Wednesday evening, so I dread to think how they would cope at a busy weekend. There was no sign of a manager or anyone in charge which made it worse as the staff were having to deal with customer unhappiness. The staff did their best under difficult circumstances.

The staff were friendly and attentive.
    The views were stunning.
Unfortunately the food was very average and probably only eaten because we were so hungry.

Our table was ready on arrival and the reception and service was excellent throughout. We ate inside but there were also plenty of dining tables outside in the attractive surroundings. I had a courgette and chick pea burger in a brioche bun with fries and my guests chose hock of ham with creamy mash and roast chicken. We were all very pleased with our dishes. I have no reservation recommending this Inn for a weekday or weekend visit.

Family and child friendly. Good for weekend lunches. We visit several times throughout the year, to meet different family members who live in and around Eastbourne. It is a good family meeting place and nostalgic for when we travel down from Essex. Our favourite dishes on these occasions are traditional English e.g. Roast Dinners, Ale Pie and Fish & Chips. As this is different to our main everyday diet today which seems to be more Thai, Indian, and Pizzas at home in suburbia.

The service was good, although they did not really come and ask if we wanted any more drinks or coffees, ice-creams etc. early enough. That was fine as we had limited time on this occasion, but if we could had stayed longer, the restaurant might have been able to sell more and make a bit more profit. But it kept our costs down!

A beautiful location but unfortunately that is the only positive statement I can give. We took two French friends with us, one of whom it was her first visit to England. We wanted them to have a traditional roast beef lunch. Having booked a table for an early meal the first thing I would have expected was for the meal to be hot - not luke warm. Having explained what Yorkshire pudding is, I found it very embarrasing to have a tiny rubber ball on the plate. The two small slices of beef were dry and tough, the roast potatoes soggy as were the parsnips, the cabbage tasteless and the extra cauliflower cheese we ordered was hard and the sauce practically non-existent. The carrot though was acceptable, although cold. For the price this meal cost, it was very poor. Had I known this, I would have cooked my own meal, which I know would have been 100% better. I felt sorry for our friends that this was not a nice experience of English cuisine. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
