Excellent food and service. Wide choice of food and very well presented. Did not have to wait overly long for courses to be served. Food presented was hot and fresh. Good, broad choice of wines available also, at reasonable prices.

Opening out onto the sands of Cooden Beach, The Beachside Restaurant champions local produce and freshly-caught seafood to deliver modern British cuisine. The restaurant boasts an elegant indoor dining room and seating directly on the beach, perfect for a relaxed Sunday lunch or a lazy afternoon tea.

Signature ‘posh fish and chips’ at The Beachside Restaurant in Bexhill-on-Sea features locally sourced fish in tempura batter, alongside comforting thick-cut chips and mushy peas. Grilled fillet of sea bream with shallot coulis joins meaty mains, such as pan-fried duck breast with honey-glazed vegetables and a Madeira sauce.

The Beachside Restaurant menu is perfectly bookended by wild boar pâté with spiced fruit chutney and oatcakesm and a crème brûlée cheesecake with fresh raspberries. Afternoon teas and cream teas can be taken outside on the beach, with stunning views of the sea, whilst Sunday lunch is a mouth-watering feast of carvery roasts with enticing appetisers and delectable desserts.

Cooden Beach Station is just a minute’s walk from The Beachside Restaurant at The Cooden Beach Hotel, with Cooden Beach Golf Club a further 5-minute walk away.

Bad incompetent service walked out after main meal due to half hour wait between meals. 50 Anniversary ruined. Had to find desert menu but no staff.

It was a very enjoyable experience although not as quiet as ususual due to family parties - understandable.

We were disappointed to not be seated in the dining room, but seated in a lounge area. This made it feel more casual than I would have liked as it was a 'treat' to come for afternoon tea. On my booking confirmation it said we would be seated in the dining room. I was hesitant to ask to be moved as I could see staff were busy with a wedding party.
The afternoon tea itself was good.( The scones were doughy and the Eton mess had no meringue) the sandwiches were lovely and fresh with lots of filling and the sliced cake was delicious.
We were looked after by Aaron, who was lovely! He was attentive, polite and a ray of sunshine on a dull and rainy afternoon. What an asset.
I hope that my feedback will be seen as constructive and not negative. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon ??

Perfect. Just right for my wife's birthday. No fuss, no frills, no bother. The meal was excellent (compliments to Chef) and the menu varied enough to want to re-visit soon. Waiting staff were busy, and possibly for that reason, couldn't hover but still attended to every detail. A very pleasant evening.

Staff were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. I took my 92 year old grandmother and they treated her like a special guest. Food was lovely - definitely recommend the fish and chips. We had a window seat overlooking the sea, which was gorgeous.

The restaurant has a lovely view out over the garden to the sea. We were seated by the open window with a refreshing breeze coming through, very welcome as the weather was very warm. The service was attentive and not at all rushed. Each dish was very well presented and delicious.

After getting married at the hotel 8 years ago we returned for anniversary dinner (as we have also done in the past). Despite our booking being at 19:30 there was construction work being carried out near the lobby so you could hear drilling within the restaurant area, fortunately this stopped by around 20:00.

The menu had a good range of options but differed from those shown on the venues website, also many of the items shown on the restaurant menu were out of stock despite the restaurant being relatively empty. The food itself tasted okay overall but ranged from delicious starters and nibbles through to quite bland mains and deserts. Prices were completely reasonable but the starters were tiny. Portion sizes varied massively, the main course I ordered was so big that my wife who had also ordered a side of vegetables and chips with her main still had less food than me!

One of the drinks that we ordered was forgotten, but when we asked the staff for it the apologised and gave it to us complementary.

At one point the staff had to apologise to dinners for a lack of glasses for drinks, despite this being a hotel with two bars on a quiet Monday night.

I would continue to use the restaurant in the future and overall it was a nice experience, however it has the potential to be better than it is if small things like the building works, missing menu items and lack of glasses can been resolved.
