Bestowed with a Michelin star in 2012, The Bath Priory Hotel offers an exemplary British fine dining experience. In this majestic stately home-style setting, celebrated chef Sam Moody showcases expertise honed working under TV chef, Michael Caines.

While enjoying views over the award-winning hotel gardens, guests can enjoy supreme culinary innovation, with much produce sourced from the Priory’s very own kitchen garden. With ingredients traceable down to the vary last salad leaf, dishes on The Bath Priory menu include butter poached Brixham turbot with smoked bacon velouté, or Priory farm rhubarb soufflé with rhubarb and ginger sorbet.

With a commitment to sourcing wine from bespoke or rare producers, The Bath Priory cellar showcases a regularly changing, cherry-picked selection. The resident sommelier is always on hand to offer inspired recommendations.

In a leafy suburb of the city, The Priory in Bath is just a 6-minute drive from the historic centre. Please note, a smart casual dress code is observed for evening dining. In the evenings, children over the age of 12 are more than welcome to dine in the restaurant from the a la carte menu. Children over the age of 5 are very welcome in the restaurant for lunch.

Opted for the tasting menu, quite tasty but really missing a 'wow' factor, well cooked but no exceptional flavours. Worst of all, the portions were minuscule. We understand the concept of a tasting menu very well, but this was not acceptable. Both my wife and I left feeling like we might grab a snack somewhere on the way home. We did inform the management who seemed to accept the feedback.

Lovely food, attentive staff and reasonable prices. Loved the little extras. The dining room has a great outlook, but the decor is very plain.

We have been to The Priory many times in the last 30 years. It is our first choice for special celebrations. Last night was a little disappointing. Drinks order taken on arrival took nearly 15 minutes to arrive and the order had to be chased up. Food here is normally exceptional and last night it was good, but not outstanding - a first for us and a surprise. Maybe it was the position of our table, but we could hear the food orders being given out in the kitchen and plates being moved about - not something we had experienced here before. After dinner, taking tea, we had to ask staff to close a nearby service door as the dishwasher being used could be heard loudly. When we got home we found that an additional £3.00 had been added to the final bill - we assume a charge for using a credit card, but thought perhaps that should have been made clear. Cost was £240 for two including tip - we had the a la carte menu/2 drinks before dinner and one glass of wine at dinner.
Positives:Front of house manager was very good. Service in the restaurant was equally good. We will certainly return; we like The Priory very much. We hesitated about putting these comments up, but decided to do so in the certain knowledge that next time our experience will be completely different. We understand that there have been a lot of staff changes at The Priory in recent months and think that new staff who have been appointed are settling into their new positions. In our view it is the best restaurant in Bath and last night was we think just a glitch. It happens sometimes!

Excellent. Timeless elegance in a beautiful building. The set lunch was spectacularly good, as were the wine list and service.

    Excellent as always

Exceptional service from all of the staff. Really made to feel welcome. The food quality and taste were exceptional. We both enjoyed all courses and of course the amuse bouch from the chef. My only criticism is that the portions were no where near big enough to appreciate the flavours and the time and effort that went into creating the dishes. Apart from that we thought everything was really lovely.

The lunch was excellent (as always). The particular highlight this time was the Prune and Armagnac soufflé.

The experience was very good with all aspects of the service at exceptional levels. My favouite food was the sweetbread starter and the wonderful choices of cheese for the dessert option.

This is our favourite restaurant in Bath. Not only is the food superb but The Priory Hotel provides the most beautiful and comfortable setting for any celebration.
