Formerly a watering hole for the workers who built The Grand Union Canal, The Barge showcases a typically British menu loaded with innovative nuances. Log fires and chunky oak furnishing punctuates The Barge dining area, whilst a leafy beer garden caters for al fresco dining.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Barge Woolstone menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Barge ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
The Barge in Milton Keynes is a 6-minute drive to the enchanting Willen Lakeside Park, whilst Milton Keynes Central Rail Station is a 9-minute drive away.

Good food, good service, good value, friendly staff. Nice friendly country pub. We visit around new year each year as it is useful meeting point between our home and relative in London.

We were very disappointed with the overall experience. We arrived on time and shown to our table which was next to a very large nosey group of people. We could not hear ourselves speak . We asked to be moved but was only moved one table away. Our drinks and meal orders were taken and drinks arrived. Our meal order took nearly an hour and when we complained they said it was because of several large groups. Two meals were ok but the Roast chicken dinner was very dry and the potato was so hard you could not put a fork in them. When we complained the waitress said (that's a shame).!!!!!! .
We ordered sweets which again had to wait a long time for. Time spent 2.5hrs for dinner and sweet which is not acceptable.
My last gripe is that when booked on line you get a 20% discount and I was also sent an email offering me a free pudding as a first time customer. I was told that I had to come back again if I wanted the free pudding as the system would not accept it. I will definitely not be going back again

Little slow on the service but the wait was worth it for the very nice food

We weren't happy with the little table we were sat at which was squashed in a corner. Every time someone at the next table got up II had to get up too so they could get out. Two of us ordered the sharing Sunday roast. Turkey and beef were fine but the lamb was minuscule and so were the vegetables. We pointed this out and the staff were very cooperative and brought more lamb and vegetables. So all in all I give it 5 stars because the food was delicious and the serving staff were lovely. The dessert was great too and I had the best coffee with Tia Maria that I've had anywhere

Booked a table for 5 for 3.00 pm on. Sunday. On arrival given a list of unavailable choices. It is incredible that they were out of all steaks, roast turkey, ham hock, Brie and a few other items. Disgraceful management, our waiter was apologising to every table. A task he did very well. To add to the misery we waited nearly an hour for our main courses. No starters as nothing left that we wanted. An other table walked out.
The beef and roast lamb were meagre portions.... Stretching out what was left.
No sign of any management!. They should be ashamed.
An expensive disaster

The service was lovely very relaxed atmosphere, the only criticism was the risotto with the seabass, it was really cheesy, the waitress did say that it had a lot of cheese in it but it was actually sickly where it was too much, both me and my friend had the same and had to leave some of the risotto, I really didn't think it needed the cheese it would have been much better without it, otherwise the rest of the meal was lovely.

A lovely cosy pub/restaurant serving great food, ideal for the whole family.
A really varied menu and they serve a good selection of ales.
