Formerly a gentlemen’s club, The Badger – Newcastle offers traditional British pub food in a cosy, country setting that dates back to the 1700s. The Badger houses stretching stone walls and oversized leather armchairs, whilst roaring log fires fill the snug dining area, along with a feature oak wall and quaint beer garden.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Badger menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Badger ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The town’s iconic Pele Tower is a 15-minute drive from The Badger in Ponteland, whilst Newcastle city centre is also a 15-minute drive away.

Thoroughly fantastic service, went the extra mile to make my experience even better. The butter for my bread was too hard, so the waitress brought me a heated plate of butter, the barman added a shot of archers to my prosecco to make it a bellini and the waitress also took the time to offer advice on the pudding menu as my dad was unsure what to get! I was very impressed :) I never normally offer feedback to restaurants or complete surveys but I couldn't pass this opportunity to say thankyou!

First visit, very nice place, staff very helpful - experience spoiled by very poor food on this occasion. Table booked for 12.30 Sunday lunch, a birthday treat. Ordered two roast beef, served within 5 minutes. Food was only warm, the beef was very rare and very 'chewy' roast potatoes rotten interior. Staff apologetic and courteous, replaced beef but replacement still very tough and chewy. Bill reduced so paid only for one edible meal. Might return but will not have the beef and perhaps later in the day when the kitchen provides hot food.

The food was lovely - I had the roast beef which was succulent and full of flavour. We would have liked to see more vegan options but that was our only criticism. Our waitress gave excellent service so we were very happy overall.

The service was excellent and we all had the Sunday Roast. The vegetables were a little thin on the ground and my wife does not like Roast Potatoes or Parsnip which left her feeling a little aggrieved. Some mashed potato as an option would have helped. The Roast Beef was very good. We all had a sweet and they were good value too. We like the Badger and will go again in the future but Mrs Fawcett may chose a different main course unless the vegetables improve.
