Sitting pretty atop the cliffs of Guernsey, The Auberge is a fine-dining bar and restaurant offering stunning views of the sea. Recipient of 2 AA Rosettes, modern British dining at The Auberge comes from Channel Islands Chef of the Year 2013, Daniel Green.

Thanks to its enviable clifftop location, fish and seafood dishes are championed at The Auberge in Guernsey. Locally hand-dived scallops feature marinated, pan-fried and tempura-battered in various different recipes on The Auberge menu, whilst local turbot is roasted with a continental chorizo and mussel cassoulet.

Not to be outdone, meat offerings range from local ‘porky’s pig’, with roasted pork fillet, ham hock and twice-cooked belly, to a succulent selection of steaks, served with hand-cut chips and mushroom and tomato fondue. Cherry-picked French and New World wines can be enjoyed al fresco overlooking the sea, or inside the elegant Auberge restaurant, which offers a panoramic sea vista from floor-to-ceiling windows.

The Auberge can be found on Jerbourg Road, a minute’s drive from Le Vallon.

The restaurant was nearly full upon our arrival but we were shown to our table straight away. Pre-dinner drinks were brought quickly and then our order was taken. The starters arrived after a few minutes and were delicious. The empty plates cleared promptly and then a reasonable wait for our main courses which again were delightful. The special offer wines tasted good too. After a rest, we had room for desserts then coffee and liqueurs. The staff had all been friendly and efficient.

A very nice restaurant and overall the food was lovely. We had a Sunday lunch and no problems with being served in fact we felt a little rushed as the moment we took our last mouthful the plates were whisked away. We liked that they brought vegetables separately but more care should be taken to ensure when serving for two there are pieces of each vegetable for two people. We had a selection but with only one piece of one of the vegetables which presumably we were to cut in half and share? When we asked for a little more so we could have one each we were charged extra!! A joke really.

However we enjoyed our lunch on the whole but would we go again? Probably not.

Fantastic location. Great views, good food though service was quite slow.

    Wonderful cant fault a thing.

Friendly meet and greet, attractive setting over looking the sea, restaurant v busy, wide ranging menu but with a limited variety of fish which was disappointing. Starters were good without being remarkable, main courses were delicious. It was disappointing that having informed the restaurant via the booking form that this was a very special occasion (Ruby Wedding Anniversary), no effort was made to acknowledge this.
