Nice lunch for two, service friendly and efficient and food very good value. It was a quiet wednesday, so no pressure on the staff. Would go again!

Tucked away in the leafy village of Betchworth, The Arkle Manor is a refurbished gastro pub with a well-sized outdoor dining area. Enjoy modern British cuisine in a rustic environment in the bar & restaurant, which enjoy plenty of natural light, fireplaces & cosy corners for intimate dining.

With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Arkle Manor menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.

The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Arkle Manor bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.

The Arkle Manor in Surrey is 3-minute drive from Betchworth Rail Station.

This gastropub was in the process of being refurbished when we viisited, with full closure to complete in a few days time. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was the standard Mitchell & Butler menu and was well presented.

Very enjoyable meal - good to eat off a plate - tired of pretentious wooden/slate blocks

    Great Sunday Lunch!

Food was excellent, a little bit rushed between starter and main could have done with a ten minute break rather that served immediatly after finishing starter..

When we were asked if we would like a sweet we asked for a little space before ordering but then rather a long time elapsed before we asked a waiter to order coffee and deserts.

All in all though a very pleasant experiance

The service was not to their usual standards. The waitress knocked over the vase during order and the water split on my husbands trousers. When we ordered the main meal My husband order the trio of roast. When it arrived there was no pork. We had to ask why only to be told we had extra beef because the pork had run out. It would have been nice to be told in advance as opposed to eating and discovering something was missing. Then we had to ask for water 3 times, as they kept forgetting, and the food tasted like the last of the dish. It was a Birthday meal and went there because we knew the food was tasty. Alas on this occasion it was not as expected.

We meet friends from Battle here once or twice a year. We love the venue and because we have so much to catch up on, we can sit and chat for as long as we like in most comfortable surroundings. The staff are excellent and most helpful. However, for the second time, Jeremy and our male friend had the beer battered fish & chips - the fish was undercooked and the chips grossly overcooked - they looked most unappetising, the worst we have seen anywhere. Jeremy is reluctant to return.

Had a lovely lunch here for Mother's Day, really good value for money for this day. I ordered the lamb roast and only shame was the lamb was very tough and fatty but he rest of the meal was lovely. Staff were really friendly and I would recommend this restaurant to friends.
