Just off Old Street roundabout on City Road, The Angel is a bustling gastropub filled with dark stained wood and other classic watering hole styles. There is a dual-level bar area, a lounge upstairs, and a weekly pub quiz that draws in a great mixture of locals and visitors.

All kinds of gourmet recipes from around the world are served on the Angel menu. There are popular bar snacks like Barbar's vintage cheddar sausage rolls, and warmed pulled pork pie with golden beetroot piccalilli. Pub classics include beef and amber ale pie served with triple-cooked chips and a red wine jus, while on Sundays there are popular roast dinners offering a variety of slow-cooked meats.

There is a great selection of international beers and cask ales served at the bar at The Angel in Old Street, along with artisan spirits and fine wines. For pudding, almond choux pastry ring filled with chocolate cream is a popular indulgent choice, as comes served with hot chocolate sauce and hazelnut ice cream.

Set in a vibrant location close to Shoreditch, The Angel is a hugely popular London pub. Old Street Tube Station is just a minute's walk away.

The Angel was good. It wasn't busy so it made for a nice lunch break. The service was good. The food was served promptly. I had the fishcakes, with salad and hollandaise sauce. The sauce and fish cakes were really good, I could have done with more salad though. My friend had the fish and chips and he was very happy with it (bit portion too). The bill came to about £30 for 2 main courses and 2 pint of soft drinks - I'm happy with this!
