Proud owner of 2 AA Rosettes and part of The Good Pub Guide's Pub Group of the Year 2016, The Anchor Inn at Lower Froyle is a classic English country pub. With experience in some of London’s top restaurants, the kitchen team add a gourmet twist to traditional favourites.

The Anchor Inn menu is packed with rich flavours and seasonal produce. Start with roast pigeon breast with sauerkraut, bacon, jus, and almonds, or Parmesan gnocchi with charred baby gem, cauliflower purée and compressed apple. Then discover the likes of red wine-marinated veal rump with baked swede, bacon, charred grillotte and thyme rösti, or halibut with saffron & tomato Israeli cous cous, caramelised olive, courgette and salsa verde.

With low wood-beamed ceilings, an open fire, and views over the pond outside, The Anchor Inn Hampshire is a rural pub with character. A selection of real ales is on hand to complement the fine food, as is a considered wine list. There’s also a private dining room decorated in a stately country-style; an ideal space for any special occasion or get-together.

Surrounded by beautiful Hampshire countryside, The Anchor Inn is a 5-minute drive from Bentley Rail Station. The towns of Alton and Farnham are both 10 minutes away.

Love the food here, but they've changed the menu recently, now the main courses are 'boring', not up to their usual standard. Starters and deserts still delight. Still worth a visit, maybe order two starters instead of main?

Sadly from the moment we walked into the garden we knew that the place had changed and not for the better! The buildings in the garden were definitely in need of a coat of paint.
Having asked whether the bread was homemade - it might have been but was certainly not the same delicious bread as used to be and sadly the whole meal continued in that vein ending up with my friend returning her cheesecake which was a little like milk jelly on soggy biscuit.
The staff were courteous and tried to do their best to rectify the situation.
We had been advised earlier in the evening that recent reports werent could but wanted to see for ourselves - we wont be returning to one of our favourite restaurants in a rush.

the first course was excellent, the main course good, the pudding poor. the room is very nice, what we took to be the 'head waiter' was first rate, but the serving staff were way to busy talking amongst themselves to take any notice of us. so that was unsatisfactory.

Excellent top quality food. Served beautifully.
Service was top line too. A very enjoyable evening spent in the restaurant, followed by a nights stay in a stunning room.
    Thank you.
