Attentive staff. Nice addition of nut roast to the menu although the veg pie was also very good. Good to see pork loin now comes with some crackling. Optional bread sauce with half chicken would be appreciated in future.

Set within a beautiful Victorian building and hotel in Twickenham, The Alexander Pope is a Young’s pub and restaurant serving up elegant and uncomplicated pub food. Backing onto the River Thames, The Alexander Pope features a beautiful vintage, refectory-style dining room, and a stunning glass atrium drinking area.

Crispy squid and pan-fried black pudding on The Alexander Pope menu keep company with seafood linguine, aubergine gratin and British classics like the award-winning Young’s steak & ale pie and juicy bangers with mash and red onion gravy. Sunday lunch sees tasty starters like pan-fried scallops and wild duck terrine open the show for succulent West Country pork loin and other roast meats.

Drinks at the Alexander Pope can be enjoyed in the natural light of the glass atrium, and include award-winning Young’s cask beers, alongside an impressive selection of New World and French wines. Live music features on a Saturday night, while there’s also the occasional tasting night.

The Alexander Pope is just a 5-minute drive from Twickenham Stadium and less than half a mile from Strawberry Hill Station.

Great waiters and food. Plus the front of the restaurant is light and airy.

Slow service, cold and below average food.

We chose to eat at The Alexander Pope because it was our 5 years wedding anniversary. Our reception was held at the hotel's function room and bar area. So overall the building and restaurant features haven't changed that much, which is good thing :) But we were disappointed with lunchtime menu and the price we had paid for a family of 4. My wife is a vegetarian and they only had one option on the lunchtime menu? We both had battered cod & chips. It's a shame they didn't have any salmon fish cakes or a vegetarian option that wasn't a salad? The staff came across friendly and polite but they were distant some of time. They had another wedding reception going on that day and the rugby. It seemed odd that they weren't busy being a Saturday? The restaurant area had no one in it apart from us. I think this could be down to the menu and prices as its a good location in Twickenham.

2 wines we wanted were not availalble; house red very poor
    forgot to bring our drinks
    all disappointed with the food
Interior design and bar area are very attractive but food does not correspond

We were not an easy group to serve as we had some food sensitivities. The waiter and kitchen were incredibly accommodating and we are very appreciative of this.

Definitely recommend this pub. Food was delicious and in hearty portion sizes. Staff were attentive and good fun to boot!

When the mains courses came one of the dishes had been completely missed off the order, so my friend gas to wait 20 minutes to receive her meal. None of the meals were hot enough including the desserts, which was a shame as the food itself was very tasty. The service was ok, but not outstanding.

Food was pretty good - nothing particularly stood out though.
The service could have been a lot better. We were served by 3/4 people during the meal, and never felt like anyone was fully in control, had to continually ask for things again- drinks, deserts that hadn't turned up. Disappointing - the pope could be a spectacular restaurant if it made the effort

We found this restaurant to be overpriced and whilst the young staff were very friendly and willing they were hopelessly organised and had to be reminded of things
