My wife and I have been looking around the Huntingdon area for a "go to" restaurant of choice, this evening we found it.

The Abbots Elm offered smart casual dining, with truly exceptional food and a wine list to accompany it. The service this evening was exemplary, from getting a pre-dinner drink at the bar (where they also serve food should you wish to dine there), all the way though to the restaurant.

As a simple starter we had parma ham/feta cheese board, with some extra olives, a beautiful start. We both had the same main course, a fillet of sea trout, on a bed of samphire and broccoli, it was cooked to absolute perfection. Finally I finished with a sticky toffee pudding and my wife a creme brulee, again first class in terms of flavour and texture.

The restaurant itself was busy tonight, it offers minimalist lines with perfect ambient lighting, sufficient to see all thats put in front of you, but not too stark as to be uncomfortable.

I'd certainly recommend it to anyone based on the very favourable experience we had this evening, working out to around £30 per person this evening including wine it was exceptional value for money as well.

I took my partner out for his birthday. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff very pleasant. There was a varied choice of food but realised we had chosen badly as the platter was a meal on it's own - we should have followed with dessert and coffee not a main course! The scotch egg on the platter was particularly superb! Wine chosen was Abbot's Elm Merlot - lovely. All in all an excellent evening.
