Awarded a Michelin star, Texture Restaurant & Champagne Bar has also won the Independent’s prestigious ‘Restaurant of the Year’ award, serving premium European cuisine in a beautifully restored Georgian building.

The Texture menu focuses on combining and contrasting different consistencies, with no savoury dish prepared using butter or cream. Such eclectic dishes include chargrilled Anjou quail with shallot, bacon popcorn and red wine essence, or Icelandic lightly salted cod with barley risotto, prawns and shellfish jus. An extensive separate vegetarian menu is also available at Texture Restaurant.

Texture Restaurant desserts also follow the bold combination ideology, with Icelandic skyr with rhubarb, muesli and granité on the menu. A fantastic wine menu and 88 champagnes available by the bottle saw Texture London awarded ‘Champagne Bar of the Year’ at the Drinking Out Excellence Awards.

    We tried the tasting menu, accompanied by five wines chosen to complement the courses. The 'pea and mint tea' pre-starter was special and set a high bar for the rest of the meal; a fantastic combination of flavours and textures - strong mint tea sorbet, pea mouse and crushed fresh garden peas. Fabulous flavours too in the heritage tomato starter. Steak and toungue was perfectly cooked, but not hugely inspirational. Quail dish was exquisite. The Icelandic cod was perfectly cooked, and was allowed to lead the dish with its delicate flavour. The wines were well matched and fantastically explained by the sommelier. Service was attentive, efficient, helpful and friendly. It is an intimate restaurant, well staffed and although not rushed, you do feel the pace of the environment, particularly as many diners were not staying for the tasting menu and were 'in and out' after one course, it seemed. Great value for money.

    We had a warm welcome at the door. Bar was comfortable and we appreciated that we were not hurried to take our table until we had finished our cocktails. Evening dinner was excellent.We enjoyed every course on the tasting menu.The meal was leisurely and we felt this added to the enjoyment of the food. All staff were courteous, attentive but not overbearing. The venue is most attractive and small enough to offer personal service.
