We had an excellent evening at the Trealcle Mine in Polegate celebrating a family birthday. We chose this venue as there is a wide and varied menu for all ages. The food was delicious and we were lucky enough to have Katie as our waitress, who was both prompt and attentive. A great evening was had by all.

Horrible experience. I will never be eating here again & have been at least 6 times a year for the last 15yrs & my other family who live more regularly !!!
The waitress missed 1 of our guests meals completely, so didn't get her started till after all our starters had been finished!!! I asked if we could swap chairs as my elderly Father wasn't comfortable & I was told by a male manager (dressed inappropriately in jeans & a half untucked shirt) to help take one from over there & he watched me carry the chair myself!!!!
The waitress just handed someone their main plate, which was boiling hot & didn't advise beforehand. The same lady who'd had to wait for ages didn't get her main course for 15mins after the rest as the waitress hadn't rectified her mistake from the starter. I ordered the Special, Sticky Pork collar, which was far from Sticky (very dry), which was changed for another special & was very nice.
We ordered desserts, which took ages to come. My warm Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream, the waitress gave me my pudding 1st as the ice cream had melted loads (she said this was down to the hot brownie) I touched the brownie was stone cold - I asked how long they had been sat there & was advised no time but my other guests had nothing that was suppose to be hot & their ice cream was also melting!!! I was asked if I wanted a fresh one but I had had enough of waiting & just wanted to leave.
My cousin approached someone to discuss the very poor service. He came over & offered us £20!!!! On looking at our bill they had not changed my specials price as the pork £13.99 & my replacement was £10.49 - so in fact was given a £16.50 discount. Will never be eating here again as the staff were & manager were very rude. I will be leaving bad reviews on different websites to advises people that just cause the place has been decorated the service has somehow managed to drop even more was below average before but now is disgusting !!!

    Very good,
It's recently been refurbished and it looks nice.
    All staff members are polite.
My boyfriend had the scampie and I notice there was one that looked a bit out of place, turns out it was a bit of breaded chicken! We didn't mind though and we didn't mention it to avoid drama.
It was just lucky he's not a Pescetarian, but we didn't mind he ate it all anyway!

We enjoyed our meal . Poppy our waitress was absolutely lovely. We were not told about the specials board and did not see it until after we had ordered which was a shame. My husband found the Thai red curry bland and disappointing. The rest of us enjoyed our choices....hunters chicken, paprika chicken and scampi. Our 3 year old granddaughter loved choosing from the children's menu and Poppy was really good with her. We used to enjoy the unlimited Pepsi but were told by the man who seated us that it was no longer available. I found the welcome we were given was a bit disconcerting as the man tried to be funny but was just odd. As there was no longer a please wait to be seated sign and nobody to greet us we weren't sure where to go as I had booked a table. Two people in our party do not drink alchohol and there were no soft drinks on the menu we were given. I found this very off putting as I couldn't see what I could choose and had no idea of the price of soft drinks on offer. Knowing prices before you order is important if you are eating out on a budget.

We had not visited the Treacle Mine for about 3 years as last time we went we felt the food and service were very poor, but pleased to say that when we went on Saturday everything was very good. Restaurant had had a facelift and food was presented differently.

Had a nice lunch at Treacle Mine yesterday. We all enjoyed ourselves and the waitress was very polite and accommodating (turning down the cold air conditioning as we were shivering - we didn't have to ask, she was very observant). The only downside was that I wasn't aware that there was a specials menu on the wall until after we had eaten which was a shame as I had ordered what I thought was the same meal as the lady on the next table. It wasn't the same when it arrived and on noticing the specials menu realized that the dish was listed there.

I have also gone for breakfast a few weeks ago and thought it was inspired! Lovely! and great value for money!!
