Housed in Manchester's elegant former Stock Exchange, Stock matches its smart Edwardian surroundings with a sophisticated menu of inventive southern Italian cooking. Robust, richly flavoured dishes from Neapolitan fish broth to the restaurant's famed steak alla Fiorentina are served beneath the 50-foot domed ceiling, rounded off with a well-chosen regional Latin wine list. Regular live jazz.

We dined at 7.30pm and left the restaurant @ 9.30pm only because parking around the area is 2 hours max - the only disadvantage, I may add. The meal was out of this world and we left very full. However, I had to try a dessert, as they were too good not too. Everything about the whole experience, from beginning to end, was excellent - thank you.

We've dined here quite often and have always found it to be a really good experience. However, we took some friends last evening and it was something of a disaster. We booked for 8.00 pm, it took some time to be served with the bread and olives, we only got one of the bottles of wine we ordered and had to remind them to bring the other one. By 9.20 pm we had to ask for the table to be cleared of the remains of the olives etc. and still no sign of the main course. We did feel the need to complain which didn't make for a very comfortable atmosphere; the main course arrived at approximately 9.30 pm. The food was good but we couldn't understand what took so long especially when all the other tables around us were being served. There was also live entertainment, a singer who was very good but much too loud, not what could be termed 'background' music. I think it will be some time before we revisit Stock, unfortunately.

We had never dined her before so dicided to buy a Groupon Voucher to try. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who looked after our coats. We arrived early and asked if we could have a drink at the bar before going to our table which wasn't a problem. We then were shown to a lovely table for 2.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was excellent. The room was amazing but the only down side was that as the room became full of diners the noise echoed due to the large domed ceiling. All in all it was a very lovely evening and we would recommend you try for yourself.

We had an early booking at 5.30 on Saturday night and my expectations were high as i had previously dined here and the food was fantastic. What a disappointment!!!!! All three pasta dishes were cold, the sharing antipasta was covered in chilli and there were three of the most boring deserts I have ever set eyes on to finish. The place is beautiful the waiters were attentive and the service was excellent but the meal was overwhelmingly disappointing.

Arrived at 5pm on sat and place was empty to be informed not open til 5.30pm. Asked if could have a drink and was shown to table. After watching several enbarrassing altercations between head waiter and staff was told kitchen was open and could order food. Had groupon voucher and antipasto served as starter.. This would have been a disaster for 2 to share as very small however we ordered n additional starter of king prawns. No finger bowl arrived with these which is a schoolboy error in any restaurant. Main course was ok - seafood pasta and finally finger bowl arrived! Dessert platter was equally disappointing as starter and was a couple if slices if dried cake, fresh fruit and choc sauce. Atmosphere was dull unless you enjoy staff being shouted at as entertainment. Couldn't wait to leave the place an hour later.

We dined at 6pm, the food was lovely and there is a great choice on the menu and very good value for money. The atmosphere is great, its a big old stock exchange building retaining many of the original features, and what has been added in terms of decor simply highlights these original features. Overall, brilliant, and i will be going back

Both of these dishes were amazing! For mains we ordered halibut in champagne sauce and veal cooked in crayfish and thermador sauce. These dishes were beautiful and we really enjoyed them and couldn't recommend them enough! We ordered one portion of cheese for desert and a port. The bill came to [$]ncluding a service charge which we asked to give as a cash tip instead as it then goes to the staff) and was well worth it!The staff were fantastic throughout!
