My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our romantic dinner last night. We had the five course menu with wine pairings and every bite was divine. Our waiter, Marco, was phenomenal. The entire wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable, but never obtrusive. We are so glad we came!

St. Peter Stiftskeller Das Restaurant in Salzburg is the oldest restaurants in Europe, mentioned in documents dating back to the year 803. It serves up a superb mix of traditional local cuisine and international specialities.
The Stiftskeller menu features both traditional and international dishes. Local classics include fillet of beef in creamy mushroom sauce, herb spaetzle and roast tomatoes, or braised beef with fried potatoes, creamed spinach, apple horseradish and chive sauce. Daring international recipes also feature, such as roasted saddle of pink Iberian pig with zucchini and tomato gnocchi.
A wide choice of classic Austrian wines from the country’s different growing regions feature on the St. Peter Stiftskeller Das Restaurant Salzburg wine list, while the traditional but very elegant interior offers an authentic feel of fine dining in a bygone era.
St. Peter Stiftskeller restaurant is in Salzburg’s old town, right at the foot of the Mönchsberg, and just 2 minutes’ walk from the Salzburger Dom, the city’s cathedral.

The restaurant was absolutely great.
Not only the venue is gorgeous, the food was great and the service extremely nice.
I loved my experience there and would recommend to anyone.

Out of the way Location but easily found by taxi. Elaborately decorated for holiday season. Various rooms all differently decorated. Food was excellently prepared. Goat cheese starter was large and different. Came with sauce and prunes. Very tasty. Smoked trout starter was expensive but very good and came with red caviar and foam that fit nicely together. Mains: Roast beef came in sauce with crispy onions, green beans and boiled potatoes was excellent. Pork loin with pancakes and carrots was a large portion. The pork was cooked pink. A solid piece of meat. Very comfortable restaurant.

Wir bekamen einen Tisch in der Richardstube. Durch die immer wieder länger aufstehende Eingangstür war es zugig und zu kühl. Der freundliche und zuvorkommende Kellner brachte – nachdem die Situation angesprochen wurde - eine Decke, die etwas Linderung brachte und trotz des zauberhaften Ambientes aber keine Wohlfühlatmosphäre und dem Wunsch nach einer Nachspeise aufkommen ließ. Die Aufstriche der Vorspeise waren noch gefroren, jedoch die Brote hervorragend. Das Standardgericht Wiener Schnitzel entsprach Touristenniveau, normaler Durchschnitt aus der Fritteuse und somit überteuert. Auch im letzten Jahr schon war unser Eindruck vom Restaurant nicht mehr so positiv wie die Jahre zuvor. Aus diesem Grund war das unser letzter Besuch.

Walking into St. Peter Stiftskeller was an amazing experience in itself. The tunnel and courtyard leading to the entranced were beautifully decorated for the holidays. From the moment we walked into the restaurant we were blown away. We were sat in a beautifully paneled room in a nice corner table. We sampled all the mountain apple juices which were fantastic and tried the St. Peter's and Monastery Garden cocktails which were delicious! The bread and specialty butters were phenomenal followed by the Cordon Bleu and Tapfelspitz main courses which we couldn't get enough of. Our plates were perfectly clean before we ordered dessert. The Salzberger Nockerl was picture perfect and tasted like a piece of Heaven. We could get used to dining like this every night. The service throughout the evening was fantastic. We will definitely come back again!

This was the perfect Christmas dinner away from home for our family! The setting and decoration was beautiful, the service and wait staff were very friendly and attentive, and the food was superb. It completed a wonderful Christmas day for us; it truly felt like Christmas.
