An award-winning foodie haven, St Clement’s showcases honest British cuisine, with a special focus on fish and seafood. As well as achieving a coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2012, praise comes courtesy of seafood expert, Rick Stein.

Offering a wholesome, honest selection of dishes weaved with quirky St Clement’s twists, favourites include Spanish fish stew with chick peas and chorizo, or baked scallops with lemongrass and chilli. Striving to source from local stocks and using simple, trusty cooking techniques, natural flavours shine through on the St Clement’s menu.

Creative and cleansing treats for desserts include elderflower jelly with summer fruits, or caramelised apricot tart. Testament to its mentions in The Good Food and Hardens guides, St Clement’s in St Leonards-on-Sea showcases a sensitively-compiled list of wines.

Enjoying a faithful foodie following, beautifully understated St Clement’s restaurant is an 8-minute walk from St Leonards Warrior Square Rail Station.

We have been a couple of times before and looked forward to this visit and were not disappointed. The service was excellent, swift and friendly. The rib eye steak in particular was very good and I was able to have it served with mash, which I prefer.
We found it quite noisy when it was full but were thankful that there was no piped music.

The Sunday lunch menu and wine list were very good and meal was most enjoyable. The two waitresses were attentive, helpful and friendly. I sent compliments to the chef.

All 3 courses delicious... staff v attentive .. only one minor thing.. wine a little over priced at £12 a glass for house red. Maybe my oversight as I didn't read the wine menu and just ordered. Would definitely recommend and return.

Possibly our new favourite restaurant! Worth travelling over two hours each way for the chowder alone. Not the easiest place to find, and not much of a view from the windows, but the food does all the talking. Can't believe it's taken us so long to make the trip to this neighbourhood gem since reading Mathew Norman's review a number of years ago. All the food was excellent (which is in itself unusual), thought the chowder was the standout dish. Minor quibbles? The quality of the bread, and the fish was slightly overcooked for our main courses. However, the pickled samphire was a revelation. The wine list is reasonably priced, and the Aussie chardonnay was lovely. We will be back regularly, even though we live in East London.

We had a midweek lunch at St Clements. The restaurant is a lovely room with a casual vibe. There were three menus to choose from -- set lunch, dishes of the day and a la carte so there was a very wide choice. We all stuck to fish and seafood which was excellent. The scallops were especially good. The standard of cooking is excellent and the service was faultless. We had a wonderful lunch and a very good time.
