The fish and chip deal was great, the service was fast, staff were friendly and both the main and dessert were very nice. Will definitely be visiting again.

An award-winning vintage coaching inn, Spread Eagle sits in a stunning rural location in the Ribble Valley. Its traditional pub and restaurant serves a menu of refined British cuisine and homemade pub classics.

Cold water prawn and crayfish cocktail is a light starter on the Spread Eagle menu, made with a spiced tomato, lime & coriander mayonnaise and served with brown bread and butter. A rich casserole of lamb neck fillet with potato and thyme is a comforting main, while traditional pub classics include chef’s pie of the day, made with butter puff pastry, and the signature Spread Eagle fish pie.

Hand-pulled ales and sophisticated wines at the Spread Eagle restaurant and pub in Clitheroe enjoy a rustic setting of slate floors, open fireplaces and oak-beamed ceilings. Themed evenings include a weekly curry night, and a lively Spanish tapas and rioja night.

Spread Eagle sits next to the historic remains of the 12th-century Sawley Abbey in the leafy surrounds of the Forest of Bowland.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The staff were friendly, welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. The food was first class, as was the beer

The food was hot and delicious, tasty and well presented. My 4 year old wanted another drink as we were preparing to leave, the waitress kindly brought her a glass of water. We were seated promptly and had a spacious table. The table was very very wobbly...! A bit of a problem with a 6 and 4 year old.

Excellent visit the food is outstanding which the service equally matches. It is full of flavour and beautifully presented. The real ale is spot on although a little pricey but you easily forget about that. Don't hesitate to pay a visit to The Spread Eagle in Sawley. The views from the restaurant are superb you look right out onto the river and fields beyond.

Food was fantastic! I had the mussels which I felt needed a little seasoning however apart from that everything tastes fantastic. The prices for the cocktails was not on the leaflet, it states £4.95 which what I expected however that is for pimms.

Also the service was quite bad. Very long wait between ordering drinks and receiving them, having to ask a lady to come back so that all three of us could order a drink and also it took 20 minutes from being given a dessert menu for someone to ask if we wanted one.
I know it's the end of the shift however I thought better attention would have been given.

Also, if it's a warm night please don't open the windows, I don't want to be attacked by midges whilst eating.

However will definitely be back as the food was amazing!!
