On a site once used to provide hydraulic power to the docks, Grade II-listed Sosban restaurant showcases authentic Welsh cuisine. This historic setting was transformed by Rugby stars Stephen Jones and Dwane Peel.

Sourcing ingredients locally, the Sosban menu changes daily, and might include starters such as potted pig with pickles and granary toast, or curried mussels. Popular main courses feature the likes of roast brill fillet with crushed potatoes and beurre noisette, while warm chocolate mousse and vanilla panna cotta are found on the dessert list.

A dedicated children’s menu is always available at Sosban restaurant, as is a Sunday lunch menu. Dominated by a 90ft stone dower, the airy, welcoming interior is filled with light and boasts bare brick walls.

Located on the south coast of Wales, Sosban is a 13-minute walk from Llanelli Train Station.

    Lovely restaurant, but food choice was limited. Took a relative there for his 50th birthday and is a steak lover, but both the Rib Eye and Chateau Briand were not available. Therefore very disappointed. Ended up with a traditional Christmas dinner. However, food quality is good and value for money. We went in at 7pm on Christmas Eve and we were the last ones to leave at 8.30pm! No atmosphere and very disappointing for Christmas Eve!

    Service also needs to be improved, although not busy had to ask for water 3 times and wrong size glass of wine brought to table.

    Absolutely fantastic all dishes were fabulous but the belly pork was melt in the mouth and Merlin ice cream was amazing. We were made to feel welcome the moment we walked in the door

    Very friendly, extremely helpful. Thoroughly enjoyable meal and the ambience was superb. Not our first visits and it won't be our last.

    Beautifully restored hydro tower and building. Fantastic open space, with comfy relaxation areas. During our visit the waiting staff were attentive and friendly. There was plenty to chose from the menu and all 6 of us in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We will return

    7:45 booking. Nice setting. Showed to table but not told what specials were. By the time we ordered it was 8 pm. Starters were nice. Then we waited and waited. It was 9:15 before we asked where wad our mains. Told there was a 40 minutes wait but was ignored when I replied that it was actually 75 minutes since we ordered. My wife's belly pork was nice but on the cold side. Should have complained but couldn't face another wait. My chicken pasta was bland. Pasta was like it just came out of the pan. The chicken was boiled and very tasteless. It wasn't until I gave my wife a taste she reckoned that it was on the pink side. Dull lights didn't help to see the colour. My wife complained to the manager who wasn't interested. Drinks are expensive. £5.75 for a 175 ml wine and £2.70 for a can of coke.
    Won't be returning.
