On a site once used to provide hydraulic power to the docks, Grade II-listed Sosban restaurant showcases authentic Welsh cuisine. This historic setting was transformed by Rugby stars Stephen Jones and Dwane Peel.
Sourcing ingredients locally, the Sosban menu changes daily, and might include starters such as potted pig with pickles and granary toast, or curried mussels. Popular main courses feature the likes of roast brill fillet with crushed potatoes and beurre noisette, while warm chocolate mousse and vanilla panna cotta are found on the dessert list.
A dedicated children’s menu is always available at Sosban restaurant, as is a Sunday lunch menu. Dominated by a 90ft stone dower, the airy, welcoming interior is filled with light and boasts bare brick walls.
Located on the south coast of Wales, Sosban is a 13-minute walk from Llanelli Train Station.

I was looking forward to this meal to celebrate my 5 year anniversary with my girlfriend but the evening was a complete let down due to the horrendous service. We arrived early to have drinks and were told there wasn't a drinks menu available and felt pressured to order food. We were taken to our table and our food immediately arrived however we were not asked if we wanted any drinks or given a wine list or table water. The waiters cleared our plates very quickly failing to ask if the food was ok or if we wanted to see a drinks menu. Our main meal arrived not much longer and the waiters rushed off before we could ask for a wine list. I refused to start my meal until I had the attention of a waiter to receive a drinks menu, the drink I had first ordered at the bar when I arrived was now empty. After being given the drinks menu and asking for table water I then had to struggle to get someone's attention to order a bottle of wine, I didn't fully enjoy my meal (although the food was lovely) because I was looking around constantly trying to get someone's attention to order drinks. Finally I got someone's attention while they were serving another table and ordered a bottle of wine which came after I had finished my main meal. When it arrived the waiter asked if he should open it for us (something I thought was an obvious thing for the waiter to do) he then asked if we wanted him to pour it (another obvious yes). Once we were finally asked what dessert we would like to order, it arrived without cutlery for a couple of minutes. We moved over to the bar area to finish our wine after paying the bill. The bar man told me he was unable to order us a taxi and that we would need to find waiting staff to do this, and also told me he would bring me the drinks I had just ordered. After waiting half an hour for these drinks to be brought over we decided to leave, after ordering our own taxi. It was clear the staff had no training and we felt undervalued as customers.

Firstly, to thank Samantha and the girls for being so welcoming ,attentive and helpful.Regarding the food, enough to say that my brother said it was one of the best steaks he'd ever been served and my lamb was cooked to perfection.
This note is also an apology for failing to pay the 'tip" we wished to leave as we were unable to do so by card, and we all had so little cash in our pockets that presenting that we felt would be insulting.I hope that you will at least accept the sincerity of our thanks instead!

This was our fourth visit and as usual we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The Sosban has a very relaxed atmosphere and we will definitely be back soon.

We had a fantastic evening, the staff were great and couldn't be anymore helpful, food was outstanding the only little thing that's wasn't good was it was a bit cold in the restaurant but that's understandable with how big of a building it is and the time of year apart from that it was a great night and I'll definitely be back.

Great atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff. I had the Camembert Share which was good. The Lamb rump was nicely cooked but a little grizzly ( they however wrapped the remains very prettily in a swan tin foil wrap so my dog was happy). No room for dessert but they looked good as they passed in particular the cheese board.
