Loved that it was an old courtroom, perfect dining experience for my aunt - a lawyer. The duck was divine, came highly recommended by our waitress and it did not disappoint.

Set in a former courtroom, Silk in Soho brings innovative Asian-fusion cuisine to a venue brimming with history. Seasonal menus are punctuated with innovative blends of exotic flavours and local produce.

Start with the exciting scallops with artichokes and strawberry salsa, tilapia fish seared in banana leafs, or more traditional options like Thai vegetable spring rolls. The Silk restaurant menu features the delicious grilled duck breast with kumquats, puy lentils and sweet potato mash, and swordfish steak marinated in Thai spices and ginger. Vegetarians aren’t left out with spinach and paneer kofta amongst the mouth-watering options.

The creative fusion cuisine of Silk in The Courthouse hotel is set against the backdrop of a room that has seen the trials of Oscar Wilde, John Lennon and Mick Jagger. The original dock, witness stand, oak panels and glass ceiling combine with sophisticated tableware to create a unique dining experience.

In the heart of Soho , Silk is a 4-minute walk from Oxford Circus Tube Station.

As a couple who have travelled often to Japan, we were a little disappointed by the Japanese Afternoon Tea. Maybe it's fine for those not already familiar with Japanese food, but overall most of this was way off. Smoked salmon in the maki? Why not proper raw salmon? The gyoza were soggy, the edamame were somehow oily, yet completely un-seasoned. The panko chicken was ok but could have had some sauce with it. Tempura should be served with it's own dashi for dipping (not just the soy sauce). The best part of the meal truly were the deserts... the azuki mochi and matcha mouse were lovely. The only "Japanese" tea offered was a plain green tea (from a tea bag). If this is really "Japanese Afternoon Tea" why not offer more Japanese teas, e.g. Matcha, Genmai, Houji?
I'm also very glad we got this on a voucher. If we'd paid full price per person for one bento box (between 2), tea from tea bags and small plum wines, I'd be pretty annoyed.
Overall though we did enjoy our meal. The court house is a very interesting venue (make sure you have a look round the other areas such as the bar with the old prison cells). The staff were friendly and attentive. But if you know proper Japanese cuisine you will be disappointed.

The service provided was excellent and the staff were very welcoming for and polite.
The food portions could have been bigger! the tandoori chicken and panner would have tasted better in some sort or sauce!

Interesting location in old law courts complete with the bar having cells to drink and eat in.
Restaurant was fine but only five people there in total so lacked atmosphere. Food good .

Nothing to rave about I'm afraid.

Strange restaurant, no atmosphere, every table using a voucher deal. The location is quite convenient and the food was fine.

What an awful experience. Wish I had read other reviews before booking, as I would not have visited. For only the second time in my life, I wrote to complain.
The room itself was nice-very traditional, however the air conditioning was on so high that my friend and I had goosebumps and the tea went cold as soon as it was poured!
The room was empty bar one other pair of diners, but for some reason staff sat us at the table next to them.
We had been called in the morning to confirm which type of afternoon tea we wanted. We opted for the Asian afternoon tea.
The food took over an hour to arrive. The other couple had finished their Japanese afternoon tea before ours had even arrived.
The food was so disappointing. The sandwiches were made with very cheap bread which due to the air con went dry within minutes. The two sweet options were not Indian shortbread and cardamon cake as stated on the menu, but just plain sponge and plain shortbread. Also, the Indian deep fried parcels were not there-instead replaced by a bowl of tortilla chips.
When I explained my disappointment to the waitress she seemed unfazed and did not offer any kind of explanation, although was not happy when I asked for the service charge to be removed from the bill.
I am still waiting to hear back from Silk, but I can honestly say I would never go back-my friend's birthday was ruined.
