A quality restaurant that is very useful ahead of a train journey

Interior never fails to impress. Food always delightful. Service charming but unreliable. Requested mustard to accompany main course materialised in time for last mouthful. Second drink never turned up. Mix up with booking was given no explanation or apology. So difficult because we always love it there but this is not the first time we have experienced such annoyances

Good food from a small but varied menu.

Overall, pretty disappointing. When we arrived we were we're told that a number of dishes weren't available because of a gas fault, meaning the menu was limited. When the food arrived, the portion sizes were meagre and mine was cold. Overall, we were quite disappointed and wouldn't return.

As a group of six, including two children, we needed and got a large table with space around. The service was good and the food excellent. Colouring books ( or something) for children would be useful. We approved of the Whitstable beer.
