Roger la Grenouille (Roger the Frog) is a great Parisian institution nestled in the Latin quarter in the heart of Saint Germain de Près. The restaurant is over 75 years old and remains a local favourite. Frog is of course on the menu in many guises but there are many other traditional French dishes to choose from too. The décor is that of an authentic 1930s bistro with photos from the period on the wall, brass pans suspended from the ceiling and beautifully set tables.

La vraie contrainte réside dans le stationnement si le mode de déplacement est la voiture. Donc transports en communs ou taxis conseillés.

Dans une salle avec décors chargés d'histoire, l'ambiance est très aimable, personnel souriant. Beaucoup de choix dans les plats avec cuisses de grenouilles pour les amateurs mais aussi beaucoup de choix même si on n'aime pas les grenouilles. Tout était très bon.Le prix du menu est raisonnable. Manger à la carte est assez cher.

We ate at 8pm on a Saturday night when the restaurant was full. The staff were friendly and unflustered. An English menu was available and some of the staff spoke good English. The restaurant is pretty tiny but very characterful with cartoons and old public notices on the wall and plain bistrot furniture. Snails and frogs legs were excellent, good range of wines. Desserts a bit basic. Nothing pretentious but everything done well. Highly recommended.

Tout etait bon a part le prix. Un peu cher et pas de menus avec grenouille, seulement a la carte et menus de 20 et plat principal grenouille a 32 euro...

We love the pate brulee, it was sensational. Staff not friendly, never asked if the food was ok, didn't service the table well. Interior has changed since I was there in 1971, not nearly as charming.
