Excellent food. We would have liked slightly larger portions but, the quality and taste were faultless, as was the service.

Booked for Sunday lunch. This is our fourth visit to the River Cafe and as before it didn't disappoint. Good menu choice for all courses. Mussels for starter were delicious. Two of chose traditional Sunday roast - one lamb and one beef and both were tender and tasty and beautifully cooked with plenty of piping hot well cooked veg and extra gravy brought to the table with our meals. My husband chose the sea bream which he said was very good and cooked to perfection. Desserts were yummy too.
Food is of a very good standard and quality and fantastic value for money. Very good service and staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely to have spotless linen tablecloths and napkins.
When booking we asked for a window table if possible and although our table wasn't right next to the window we had a window close by with a lovely view over the river.
It won't be our last visit to this little gem.

This was our first visit to the restaurant although we have sampled the food before at Tynemouth Market. Upon arrival we were met by the owner Paul and made to feel most welcome. We were given a table in the window with a view over the Fish Quay. The menu was varied and all sounded excellent and the wine menu was extensive. I had a starter of Tempura Prawns, this being served with a beautiful and extremely tasty salad. It was of exceptional quality. My wife had the Lamb Kofta, this also being of a very high standard.. We both had Roast Chicken with a creamy mash and baby veg for our main course. The chicken was moist and the vegetables perfect al dente. I finished with an Orange Crème Brulee; this was excellent. All the food was of an exceptional quality and perfectly cooked and presented by the Chefs. The service throughout was efficient and friendly without being overbearing whilst the ambience was ideal. I am not surprised that this is a Michelin starred restaurant as it is very well deserved. We thouroughly enjoyed the experience and will visit again. Thanks to Paul and all staff - well done.

The food was excellent, as was the service. I particularly enjoyed the goats cheese and beetroot starter which was unusual and really fresh and delicious. The fish is always first class.
