Opposite a beautiful 13th-century castle in the rural Emilia-Romagna village of Riva, Riva restaurant is a family-run establishment with outdoor terrace, serving home-made, regional Italian dishes.
Once a bar and tobacconists, Ristorante Riva was opened in 1987 by owners Carla and Maurizio, who have created a rustic yet sophisticated feel. Carla is honoured to have gained her restaurant experience working alongside chef George Cogny. Maurizio, on the other hand, trained in agricultural studies and uses that knowledge in wine-producing.
The Riva menu reflects the experience of both owners, with tasty traditional classics such as wild boar, snails with porcini mushrooms, home-made pasta and various hand-made desserts and sorbets. The accompanying wines have been specifically selected to complement each course.
In the immediate surroundings of the restaurant there is the 19th-century Palazzo Scrivani-Rossi and a small church. The riverside town of Riva is surrounded by open countryside and rolling hills. Ponte dell'Olio is just 1 km away along the SP654R, and the centre of the Renaissance city of Piacenza is about a 45-minute drive away. There is plenty of on-site parking at Ristorante Riva.
