Inside the prestigious Prestonfield Hotel is the opulent fine dining restaurant, Rhubarb Restaurant at Prestonfield Edinburgh. Within 20 acres of lush parkland, Rhubarb serves fine Scottish cuisine in 2 spectacular Regency dining rooms.

Opulent and theatrical, Rhubarb Restaurant exudes an almost regal feel with silk wall coverings, ancestral portraits and elegant purple and black décor throughout its 2 oval dining rooms. A kilted porter will escort you through and there are beautiful rose-filled gardens.

From the creator of the Witchery by the Castle, Rhubarb Edinburgh boasts an award-winning cellar which features a wine list of over 800 labels. Popular dishes on the Rhubarb menu use the finest Scottish produce including roast red grouse, sauerkraut and prunes with Armagnac or the braised haunch and roast loin of Glenalmond Estate roe deer.

In a beautiful countryside setting, Rhubarb Restaurant has chic salons and bars for cocktails, and divine drawing rooms in which to enjoy liqueurs by the log fires.

My partner treated me to lunch at Rhubarb Restaurant for my birthday and have to say it was marvellous right from being greeted at the entrance to having a meal, along with pre lunch drinks in the lounge sitting in front of the warm log fire.
The food was as good as anywhere I have eaten and would put easily into my top 3 favourite restaurants and believe me I have eaten in many good restaurants.

I was entertaining two lady friends from out of town who I know would appreciate the pomp of Prestonfield House. The experience, staff, food and overall ambience was terrific and much enjoyed by all.
However the mix up with which menu we were on and the initial lack of staff clarity was not good - I'd book the deal of a £25 per head lunch, but first got the main menu, then having asked if this was right, it was taken away and then the set dinner menu at £35 was presented, only to be again taken away and finally, after 3 attempts, the right one. Had these guests of mine not been close friends, my having to ask on three occasions and given the wrong menus, would have been extremely embarrassing.

Restaurant did not mention the offer (3 course for £25) and only gave us their usual menu (2 courses and we were charged for our dessert). I couldn't remember the details of the deal and we didn't bother to enquire - would be nice not to have to in the first place.

The food was very good (tried one stater and 2 different mains) and the cost of the set menu is good value, disappointed by the bread though.
The a la carte mains seem very expensive and while the food is good there is definitely a premium for the environment. Of cours the environment is very nice, the decor extremely 'lush'. Entrance staff are very nice. For the waitering staff the level is a bit unequal, but overall all very nice.
It's obviously quite an unique place!

A fantastic dining experience. The menu and service were excellent. The only issue was that the glass of champagne advertised never materialised.

Excellent meal, with food and service of high quality. Within minutes of the bustle of the city centre, visiting Rhubarb is like arriving at a luxurious country hotel. There were highland cows and peacocks in the grounds, and we were lucky to have a window table. At Sunday lunch the tables were closely packed, but that is a small quibble given the overal high quality.
