Inside the prestigious Prestonfield Hotel is the opulent fine dining restaurant, Rhubarb Restaurant at Prestonfield Edinburgh. Within 20 acres of lush parkland, Rhubarb serves fine Scottish cuisine in 2 spectacular Regency dining rooms.

Opulent and theatrical, Rhubarb Restaurant exudes an almost regal feel with silk wall coverings, ancestral portraits and elegant purple and black décor throughout its 2 oval dining rooms. A kilted porter will escort you through and there are beautiful rose-filled gardens.

From the creator of the Witchery by the Castle, Rhubarb Edinburgh boasts an award-winning cellar which features a wine list of over 800 labels. Popular dishes on the Rhubarb menu use the finest Scottish produce including roast red grouse, sauerkraut and prunes with Armagnac or the braised haunch and roast loin of Glenalmond Estate roe deer.

In a beautiful countryside setting, Rhubarb Restaurant has chic salons and bars for cocktails, and divine drawing rooms in which to enjoy liqueurs by the log fires.

    Very Good

We were met on arrival by a very smart manew in a kilt as we're most of the male staff. The table d'hote menu was great both in choice and value. Every course was delightful to look at and flavour. The service from arrival to leaving was brilliant, welcoming and efficient. Would we go back? Hell yes. Beautiful surroundings and great food and value for money.

Dinner was absolutely first class and great value. The service was superb and both the restaurant and house is fabulous. It is like walking back in time and was a truly memorable experience.

    Excellent setting and fantastic food

The ambiance of the Rhubard room is delightful and the staff solicitous and pleasantly unobtrusive. The three course meal chosen from items in the a la cartel and in the fixed pice menus was excellent. A minor observation is that the small blue patties.that accompanied the excellent venison were to me visually unattractive.

I benefit from having a bannister to steady me when going up or down steps and the only one available was in part unusable due to plants. I received timely and courteous help but you might consider improving access. The rope bannister going upstairs would be better if replaced by something solid that could be gripped. These are not complaints but matters you might choose to consider.

This and earlier visits were very pleasant and I will certainly return on other special occasions.
