With the glittering accolades of 4 AA Rosettes and a Michelin star, Restaurant Martin Wishart is one of Edinburgh’s most desirable dining destinations. Having trained under such culinary giants as Albert Roux, Michel Roux Jr and Marco Pierre White, Martin Wishart delivers refined French cuisine in the historic setting of the Port of Leith.

Classic cooking techniques are showcased on the Restaurant Martin Wishart menu. There's sumptuous roast turbot and bone marrow, with artichoke and Vivaldi potato boulangère, mâche salad and truffle jus, and a delicate dessert of passion fruit cannelloni with confit pineapple, coconut sorbet, lime cream and doughnut. Such dishes come together for a finely-balanced 6-course tasting menu, interchangeable with fish and vegetarian selections.

A lightly-balanced weekday lunch menu at the Martin Wishart restaurant in Edinburgh features Sauternes-glazed quail breast, while the wine list is a sophisticated French and New World compilation. The elegant restaurant interior was given a contemporary refurbishment in 2012, yet retains its classic French fine-dining ambience.

Restaurant Martin Wishart is by the banks of the Water of Leith, 2 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. The maximum number of diners per booking is 5. To book for larger parties, please contact the restaurant directly.

We come every year during our visit to the festival and the restaurant never disappoints. Having very recently dined at Le Manoir comparisons in all areas result in Martin Wishart coming out on top. Food is innovative and exciting accompanied with service which always makes us feel special.

I greatly enjoyed the Classic tasting menu, particularly the veal cheek. My wife being a pescatarian opted for the seafood menu which was not quite so successful. The main dish of turbot first time around was overly salted and was returned. The replacement was spot on. The service was excellent, the "filler" courses were highly innovative and very tasty. All in, the visit was a grand experience and a peg in the sand for what restaurants should strive for.
