Awarded a trio of AA Rosettes for his ground-breaking British cuisine, Mark Greenaway’s eponymously-named restaurant is one of Edinburgh’s most sought after dining spots. Once a bank vault, the custom-built cellar houses a stunning wine collection, where the sommelier invites diners to try before ordering.

Crafted in Mark Greenaway’s innovative signature style, the menu compiles regularly-changing market fresh dishes and multiple-course tasting journeys. Exquisite creations might include Loch Fyne crab cannelloni with smoked cauliflower custard, fillet of Aberdeen Angus beef with foraged mushrooms, or gingerbread and rhubarb fondant with almond ice cream. Wines can also be matched by the on-hand sommelier.

Set in a restored Georgian building, the interior is the work of acclaimed designer Adam Storey, with warm, dark teal and mahogany offset by bespoke metal pieces and brass chandeliers.

Chef Greenaway also represented Scotland in the 2012 & 2013 series of TV’s Great British Menu. Mark Greenaway restaurant in Edinburgh is a 10-minute walk from Waverley Train Station.

Managed to get a last minute booking via Bookatable on a Friday night in Edinburgh, and the experience was great. There is a very reasonably priced Chef'd menu of 8 courses, but we were a party of 3 and everyone wanted to try different things so we had starters and mains and shared dessert. The food quality is top notch, and the cooking and presentation is very much worthy of Michelin recommendation. The portions may look small on the website, but they are very filling, 3 courses will be a lot of food for most people. I had the Venison Carpaccio followed by the duck, both were lovely and I believe that the pricing is good value compared to some of the restaurants I am used to in Asia. Overall great service and great food - highly recommended.

It was just the sort of Restaurant I like. Good Welcome, very good service, a pleasant atmosphere and well appointed.

The artichoke Veloute was as good as any I have tasted.

Very high quality of food, original, creative but keeping the true flavor of each ingredient.
    Splendid presentation.
The restaurant looses its atmosphere when parties of 10 guests are seated at one long table. If those guests are noisy, badly dressed and continuesly going in and out of the room for a smoke it makes you feel uncomfortable to have invited your partner to an intimate dinner experience and having dressed up for the occasion!
Service could be better and more up to the quality of the food served.

Fantastic lunch at Restaurant Mark Greenaway yesterday. We selected the market menu which was delicious and very reasonably priced. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The staff were very attentive and made the whole experience very enjoyable. Would definitely go back here.

Lovely meal. Wines complimented each of the dishes perfectly.. The plaice was just wonderful. Loved the desert. Couldn't fault the food....it was perfect.Happily eat at Mark Greenaway any time.
Only one small criticism.....felt that the meal was maybe a little bit rushed. Would have appreciated more time between each course. We were the last to leave, just felt the staff were keen to get the dining room cleared.
Otherwise really superb lunch. Definitely highly recommend

Lovely delicious lunch with all three courses extremely well presented and delicious. Paired wines were exquisite and the service throughout was impeccable. Will be back!

Ambitious, different but hit and miss food. For example, the dessert was a reconstructed eton mess. Rhubarb mousse and meringue were lovely, other parts had rather more gelling agent than I would say is usual Service was excellent.
