Awarded a trio of AA Rosettes for his ground-breaking British cuisine, Mark Greenaway’s eponymously-named restaurant is one of Edinburgh’s most sought after dining spots. Once a bank vault, the custom-built cellar houses a stunning wine collection, where the sommelier invites diners to try before ordering.

Crafted in Mark Greenaway’s innovative signature style, the menu compiles regularly-changing market fresh dishes and multiple-course tasting journeys. Exquisite creations might include Loch Fyne crab cannelloni with smoked cauliflower custard, fillet of Aberdeen Angus beef with foraged mushrooms, or gingerbread and rhubarb fondant with almond ice cream. Wines can also be matched by the on-hand sommelier.

Set in a restored Georgian building, the interior is the work of acclaimed designer Adam Storey, with warm, dark teal and mahogany offset by bespoke metal pieces and brass chandeliers.

Chef Greenaway also represented Scotland in the 2012 & 2013 series of TV’s Great British Menu. Mark Greenaway restaurant in Edinburgh is a 10-minute walk from Waverley Train Station.

Great experience from start to finish. Warm welcome from staff. Very comfortable chair! Perfect height with great back support, beautifully starched white table clothes, sparkling wine glasses. Food was devine, chicken terrine to start with juicy date followed by pork belly which was a little bit dry but everything else on the plate was scrumptious followed by chocolate overload! My partner had cheese plate which was hearty and delicious. All served with matching wines which really did compliment the food. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and for £40 pp including wine was exceptional value.

Welcome and service was excellent. Interior of the Edinburgh venue was superb, cosy and lovely atmosphere. Food was exceptional - cannot use enough superlatives to describe the presentation, taste etc. Everything was, as our friends put it " best fine dining experience we've had". The staff took time to explain the background to the various wines(we had chosen the glass of wine with each course offer menu) and the wines certainly complemented the food. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch outing and we will definitely be back, as well as recommending Mark Greenaway to others.

A fabulous lunch, excellent service and good value considering the deal included perfectly matched wines. A crab substitute for my allergic husband did not phase the chef who produced a delicious alternative.

Lunch with matching wines. Excellent food beautifully presented with superb choice of wines to match. If you think you are a 'foodie' this is not to be missed, great value.

Although it appears formal the restaurant was relaxed while staff were attentive but not overly so. The dining experience was excellent and the portions
were more generous than we expected on a fixed price deal .We will definitely be back.
