The experience as a whole was lovely thank you, unhurried, attentive staff and it goes without saying fantastic food and an impressive menu. A great touch to meet the chef too! The cheese waiter was extremely well informed... The atmosphere and interior design were great and parking easy and I loved the crisp white linen. The only couple of points that could be improved were - A spelling / punctuation mistake right in the middle of the menu glared out in the first couple of minutes - misuse of apostrophe on the name James. The dimpled plates used for the Blackberry desert were badly chipped along the rim, two on mine, one on my husbands which we were very surprised at and the Christmas tree was poorly decorated! all small things and easily fixable though! Coffee after the fixed menus would have been a nice thought and inexpensive addition to round off the meal.

Had a stunning meal with amazing company and both enjoyed the restaurant very much. However, I had contacted the restaurant the day before to state I would be treating someone to a birthday dinner. All I asked was to have at least a candle with her desert. To which I was advised that this was not a problem and to leave it with them. The deserts came. No candle. Finished the deserts nothing more came. Very disappointed by this as it's the little things that count and would have made the evening extra special as promised. I would have expected more from a restaurant where everything else is nothing less than perfection!

A wonderful experience for a special birthday evening. The food was out of this world, the service was superb and the setting was beautiful. A perfect evening.

A brilliant meal. We visited for lunch and had the 6 course Tasting Menu. It was perfect. The flavours were fabulous and every mouthful was a real delight. The whole meal was well balanced and we came away with big smiles. We will return soon.

This was our second visit to the restaurant. We went to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.

The food was exceptional, each dish was very specially crafted and beautifully presented. The belly pork starter was my highlight.

However we found the service wasn't as attentive as before or as we expected, perhaps because it was a busy lunchtime.

We were seated right beside a family with small children, which was the only other table seated when we arrived. The children were very noisy, brought boxes of toys and had an iPad playing to entertain them on the table. This made it very hard for us to hear our own conversation and did detract from the experience. While we like that the restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere where families feel welcome, it was very distracting and not quite the special or sophisticated afternoon we wanted for our anniversary. If we had been seated a bit further away it probably wouldn't have been any issue.

We spent £150 on lunch, the food was faultless but we left a bit unsatisfied. Maybe we should have gone in the evening instead.
