Dining at Tormaukin is rarely a disappointment. Food as always was excellent! Although would appreciate if fish dishes also advised when bacon or ham is included....

Food is amazing and always has been. I am leaving feedback on this ocassion as I feel necessary regarding, perhaps over attentive service. On this ocassion there was a waiter we'd not seen before who was almost too attentive to the point of feeling a tad harrassed as though there should have been a problem to be dealt with. I know just doing his job but at one stage we were asked if everything was ok with our meals beore we had even taken a bite! I'm sure we are not the only ones who would just like to be left alone when out for dinner. I think less is more on this occassion.
Normally ratings would all be 5 stars. I just felt I needed to mention this.
We will definitely be back though.

The location is lovely. The restaurant was like a pub lounge but very cosy. Staff extremely pleasant but disorganised especially at the bar. They needed a clear leader!
Food tasty but over-priced. I guess I was paying for the location.

    Excellent great food and service

Friendly young staff and efficient service. Pleasant ambience. Have eaten here several times and the food, whilst rarely hitting the heights, is usually of a good standard, well prepared and reliably enjoyable, but fell below this standard on this occasion. A flavoursome sirloin steak...requested medium rare but was well done. Well cut chips spoilt by using tasteless potatoes. I would recommend to a friend but with slight reservation regarding variable standard...

A lovely meal in a quaint setting. The venison starter was delicious as was the rabbit saddle for main. The portions were quite large so didn't have room for dessert.

The food was great and I was really impressed that there was a separate vegetarian menu which had options that were different from what veggies normally get offered. Great choice of desserts too.
Most of the service was good too but the girl who welcomed us was clueless - no idea about what beer was on tap, what wines were available, where to hang coats..........

The restaurant did not appear to know we had made a reservation but there were plenty of free tables. The a la cartel menu was extensive but surprisingly dominated by fish dishes. Overall our meal was fair but my leek and potato soup was poor/ tasteless and my wife commented that her scallops while tasty were a little cold. We both enjoyed our main courses (sea bass, wild boar medallions). Service was ok if a rather slow. We did not stay for coffee or desert.

We both had moules marinere which were lovely served with fresh bread & butter, I had the lamb which was served with dauphinose potato, purple sprouting broccoli & parsnip puree - beautiful dish & very good sized portion. My husband had the pork with fondant potato, red cabbage, black pudding bon bons & kale which looked & tge little bit I tried was lovely. Both dishes came with a lovely jus. I had sticky toffee pudding & ice cream - yum & home made ice cream & he had dark chocolate & sea salt caramel fondant with ice cream which was to die for! Best meal we've had in a long time! Lovely attentive experienced staff too!
