Quite simply faultless. We went for the seven course taster with the wine taster as well. Staff were friendly and attentive without being overly so. Would highly recommend The Whitebrook

The Whitebrook holds a Michelin star and 4 AA Rosettes. Serving modern British cuisine, the restaurant benefits from stunning views of the Wye Valley.

Using exciting ingredients foraged locally, the food is rustic but creative. Start with squab pigeon with cauliflower, rhubarb and bitter leaves, or flame-grilled mackerel fillet with baked apple, pickled cucumber and laver seaweed. Amongst the exquisitely presented mains are suckling pig with pine nut purée, violet artichokes and hop shoots, and the featherblade of Longhorn beef with quinoa, kohlrabi, nettle and horseradish. The Whitebrook taster menu offers an intriguing array of wild produce, with the option of carefully selected wines to accompany the dishes.

Décor at The Whitebrook Monmouth is rustic but sophisticated, with exposed wooden beams, wooden flooring and neutral colours. Both the restaurant and the tranquil terrace enjoy views of the surrounding countryside.

On the doorstep of the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean, The Whitebrook restaurant sits in a beautiful rural location. The town of Monmouth is a 13-minute drive away.

We had the lunchtime tasting menu with accompanying wines on New Year's Eve. What a delight! Every course was surprising and delicious - Jerusalem Artichoke starter was divine, crab dish to follow also, cod great and suckling pig unctuous. Loved it. Made more fun by the accompanying wines which were unusual and interesting, assisted by an excellent maitre d'hotel. Dessert was light, refreshing and flavoursome. In fact, the flavours throughout were unbelievably good. We started with a very nice martini which was light and long, and unlike the somewhat overpoweringly heavily alcohol flavoured, shorter, American style - a much more appropriate aperitif. My favourite restaurant of all time!

We had a leisurely lunch in New Years Eve, the service was impeccable, the food was enjoyed by all, and of a standard to be expected- we all felt it was great value.

My wife and I visited on a Sunday lunchtime in December. It's not the easiest place to find but a scenic drive through some stunning countryside on a crisp winter's day added to the occasion. The setting, including the décor was appealing , however as it was quiet there , with only 3 tables of diners, it lacked some atmosphere. This was not a issue as the positive consequence was that the service was excellent - staff were efficient , unobtrusive, friendly and helpful. In addition the food was outstanding - an explosion of different flavours and tastes for my uneducated palate - although the choice of only two starters and two mains was minimal and not particularly festive. The added cost of two glasses of wine and coffee seemed a bit disproportionate to the cost of the set meal. Overall an enjoyable experience.

Great gin cocktails. Extremely helpful, informative head waiter helped us with the wine choice, allowing us to taste 3 before selecting, which was interesting and fun. Very reasonably priced bottle at £36 - and delicious. Always really love the amuse-bouches as they are beautifully presented and seem to distil the essence of flavours. Love the use of wildflowers and plants - mugwort, this time. All 3 courses were delicious - and then there's the bread! The lamb and the suckling pig are my favourites, along with the cheeseboard. Love the ambience and the location too!
