A celebrated Hertfordshire pub, The Feathers Inn presents a rustic British dining experience. Diners can choose between sitting in the spacious outdoor area in front, or in the traditionally styled dining room.

Specialising in trusty, home-cooked British recipes, The Feathers Inn menu is made up of time-honoured classics and inventive chef’s specials. The signature beef & ale pie is a creation from much-loved celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, while favourite world flavours include sizzling steak fajitas, or aubergine and roast beetroot curry. Gourmet sandwiches and jacket potatoes are served throughout the day, and guests can round things off with an indulgent crumble, cheesecake or sundae.

The drinks list at The Feathers Inn pub features carefully-chosen beers and international wines, and a lengthy list of soft drinks. Younger diners are not forgotten, with a varied menu for both lunch and dinner, and a mini roast served on Sundays.

A rejuvenated 17th century coaching inn, The Feathers Inn Wadesmill is a 3-minute drive from the A10 Motorway.

So the pub from the outside looks really inviting and the bar is just as it looks , cosy, welcoming and local. The restaurant is a bit different.

Really bright and no music or atmosphere and as the other side of the pub (the bar) is darkly lit you'd half expect the same.

We ordered wine and the young girl was very pleasant but corked the wine. Poured some out then offer me a new glass. Not another bottle. At £25 id half expect a new one. Especially as my GF and i kept finding bits of cork all the way through.

So starters ordered parsnip soup and Welsh rarebit.

Now I don't want this to sound like I'm a picky eater but the soup looked washed out and had chunks of soggy break making up the majority of the dish. My rarebit had more garnish than cheese so I was left a little flat.

However my ribeye steak was yet to come. With grilled calamary on top.

Yet when it arrived it was a rump. I told the waitress who promptly asked the chef. He said a ribeye went out. Now I'm hungry at this point so I kept the steak and ate my way through the nicest piece of RUMP but it wasn't a ribeye. No marbling no fat content and way too thick to be cut like a ribeye.

I guess what I'm trying to convey here is , they have so much potential to be amazing but let down at the points above.

I would give it a second go as maybe there are a few training issue on wine serving and possibly a mix up on my steak but they do need to add atmosphere in the dining area

Friendly service and quite prompt. Food pretty average but presentation good. Decor in and around pub a bit lacking in comfort and Ladies toilets were terrible! Freezing cold, no liquid hand soap and felt dirty, probably because of the cold environment and drab features. Car park full of pot holes too.
